name the last superstar that got traded and actually got traded for fair value. - SuperHenderson13
Phil Kessel
Dion Phaneuf (pre-Toronto)
Tyler Seguin
Jeff Carter
I guess Seguin or Carter is the most recent. |

They played plenty well for the first 30 minutes of the game. Penguins went into cruise control and thought they won the game.
Johnston ALWAYS talks about the other team getting "momentum" and that being a game changer. That doesn't excuse your team for playing uninspired. I think he's a terrible coach. He seems like he understands the game brilliantly, but his attitude is complete poop for a coach |

see, when you live in a world where it's okay to compare 60pt players to 12pt players, then you're obviously in denial, a complete homer, an idiot, or all 3........................just sayin - sensarmy_11
Don't get me wrong Bennett absolutely sucks, but he certainly isn't a bottom 6 player.
Also I don't think Stone and The Hoff suck like Bennett clearly does, but I also know they aren't players I would want on my top 6, say what you want your not changing my mind. |

You guys wanna see something hilarious :
Sam Lafferty, Anthony Angello, Jaden Lindo, Jeff Taylor, Tristan jarry, Jake Guentzel, Ryan Segalla, Dane Birks, Blaine Byron, Troy Josephs, Derrick Poulliot, Olli Maatta, Teddy Blueger, Oskar Sundqvist, Matt Murray, Matia Marcantuoni, Sean Maguire, Clark Seymour, Anton Zlobin, Joseph Morrow, Scott Harrington, Dominik Uher, Josh Archibald, Scott Wilson, Beau Bennett, Bryan Rust, Tom Kuhnhackl, Kenny Agostino, Joe Rogalski, Reid McNeill, Simon Despres, Philip Samuelsson, Ben Hanowski, Nick Peterson, Alex Velischek, Andy Bathgate, Viktor Ekbom, Nathan Moon, Alexander Pechurski, Patrick Kileen, Nick D'Agostino, Angelo Esposito, Kevin Velieux, Robert Bortuzzo, Casey Pierro-Zabotel, Luca Caputi, Alex Grant, Jake Muzzin, Dustin Jeffrey
Is that a minor league baseball team?
The staff at your local Wegmans?
No, it's much worse, it's the last 7 Penguins draft classes.
It's pretty scary, and for the 3rd year in a row no 1st round pick this year. - jimmy mcnaulty
Bold ones Most teams would have taken without complaints.
We have the #1 Goalie in the AHL, a drafted player.
Also 2014 1st round pick #22 Kasperi Kapanen.
2012 1st round picks #8 AND #22 Pouliot and Maatta.
Hilarious is your stupidity.
So congrats, you're an idiot spread over at least three years

Different definitions, I guess, but I don't see Carter or Phaneuf as having been superstars at the time they were traded (or, probably, Kessel for that matter). |

I'm not an Ottawa fan, I'm a Pens fan. But I am also a HOCKEY fan and follow all of the teams, unlike yourself clearly. Overall is Ottawa more talented that us? No. Injuries and fatigue have caught up to us. But your complete disregard for the young stable of Quality players Ottawa has built up shows your utter lack of knowledge about the rest of the league and give the rest of us Pens fans our arrogant and ignorant reputation. I don't think Hoffman and Stone are future MVP's. But give credit where credit is due. - Willaged
Unfortunately, you are responding to a guy that has zero clue about hockey. No one ever said Stone and Hoffman were elite prospects top six forwards as he claims. However, both Stone and Hoffman would be in our top six without question. Hell, two of them are good enough to be on our top line.
I find it interesting that people like him are ill-informed about the game today. Ottawa has five legit 25 and under guys that either are producing now or will soon. Stone is 22 and was a sixth round pick (24-37-61). Hoffman was a 5th rounder and is 27-21-48 as a rookie. Zibanejad (21) is 20-26-46. Chiasson (24), who they got from Dallas is 11-15-26. Their next guy to break out is Lazar (20) is 6-7-13. We don't have a Lazar on our roster. A kid 20 or under that can do anything at forward. That is close to 200 points for five guys under 25.
Ottawa is a more balanced team than us. Take away our two stars, they are a better team. Their lineup even with the two stars in last night is better.
Those are the facts. |

Tyler Seguin was not traded for fair value. The only people that would claim that are Bruins fans that are on suicide watch and are trying to cling onto dear life. Phil Kessel was only traded for fair value because the B's drafted Seguin with that pick, but then they sold Seguin for fair parts so its a stretch to include The Phil on that as well. |

Sundqvist maybe. He looked about ready to crack the lineup in camp and can play a bottom six roll. Maybe he can push out Lapierre or Adams. Its an outside chance, but if Magic Mike's only gonna play them 6 minutes anyways then why not give it a shot. Low risk medium/high reward move.
Kapanen is a hard no for me. Kid's a twig and seems pretty inconsistent and would require a top 6 roll. Comeau has been playing poorly, but the last thing we need to do is give Malkin Zach Boychuk for the playoffs AND run the risk of injuring our top prospect during a physical playoff series (don't think I'm taking for granted that we'll even have that because I'm not)
Also remember that one time when Old Man Ruth drafted Zach Boychuk 14th overall? Yeah... Dear God Kap don't be Zach Boychuk... - Victoro311
I dont think its fair to say Kapanen will be Boychuk.
We agree on Sunqvist for sure.
Kapanen, I know is a long shot, I just dont know how he could provide less for Geno than Comeau/Kunitz. |

you comparing bennett to stone, is like me comparing zibanejad to crosby or malkin.................there is no comparison.
hoffman is tied for 11th in the league in goal scoring, and stone is 1 pt out of the top 30 in pts, and both are rookies.................if you don't clasify that as top six players, then you're dumber than i thought. |

So, you really are into this denial stuff. It works for awhile. By this evening you will think of last night's game as a mere blip, not unlike the last half of the entire season.
Pretend that a few cosmetic changes next year and the Pens will once again be a elite team. Never, ever, works that way. Once peak has occurred performance results decline at an accelerated pace.
I don't mean to sound like I am sniping. I strongly believe what I am saying. Sens fans were irritated with me because I advocated the trading of Alfredsson and Spezza. I did not support the signing of Ryan. Age is the great performance leveler.

well he fell a long way down now playing with me on a B league adult team hahaha
well at least there is one thing for sure, I have a playoff game tonight
then again this team dominated us both times so I guess we still have about the same chances of winning as the pens not only getting into the playoffs but getting past the first round |

Fire the GM, who has had 1 draft class, that really isn't fair to judge on yet...
Probably not, GMs don't often get fired after 1 year. Head coaches are a more likely candidate. |

Because he's unfamiliar with the system and his would-be line mates style of play. Not to mention he is also unfamiliar with North American style hockey. If he absolutely ate the Liiga, then I'd have a diffrent opinion, but he was pretty average over there, so my fear is that he'd be as lost on Geno's wing as Boychuk and Tangradi were in 2012 before eventually just settling with over the hill Matt Cooke.
I'm not saying that he is destined to by Zach Boychuk. I'm just saying that it is likely that his play would imitate Boychuk's in 2012 if we were to bring him up for the playoffs. That last part about Rutherford drafting Boychuk was more of a joke made in dark humor. Still scary to think about though. |
