Thank you! Sutter was his typical mash potato self out there. Lost two critical draws when it counted most. - madmike71
For those saying Sutter is better, Laps is actually 3 points higher as a Pen in defensive zone faceoffs....good thing they traded for him to ride pine.
Was in the car with the girlfriend when the shorty went in; first words out of my mouth were "if they don't get that one back on this PP, they are going to lose this game"
I couldn't even get mad when it happened. I knew it in the 2nd when they gave up that shorty. That was the game right then & there. This team has the compete level of a beaten puppy.
They need to seriously look at their entire organization in the offseason. Their med staff, their strength & conditioning guy, the types of players they're bringing in (Ruth has brought in a lot of decent players with no history of winning & that weak losing mentality is rubbing off) and their coaching staff has an even worse sense of accountability than Bylsma's staff did. He at least held young guys accountable. HCMJ holds nobody accountable.

I liked the Despres trade...only because Lovejoy was great in the playoffs last year. wtf was that tonight?
I am still trying to grasp what happened...but I still think we'll make the playoffs. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Lovejoy has been bad more than good...that trade is looking really really bad. BB was finally playing great, and he only gets 9 minutes while other guys were just gassed. HCMJ lost them this game tonight, nothing is going to change my mind on this.
Exactly, no one wanted this job. - Oneonta Penguin
There were slim "pickens" out there for both jobs. The Vancouver guy didn't take the job because Tochett was part of the deal. I honestly believe the Babcock rumors played a roll in it as well.
Let's face it... MJ is a goner if this team sh!ts the bed like this. As ugly as last summer went, this year has to potential to be worse.
You've been saying that for years after losses. How about remembering them instead? Might help you learn something about not blowing leads.

What do you want him to say? Sorry the rest of the team doesn't care as much as I do...sorry the rest of the team has no heart and I can't carry this team myself. Crosby has done everything he can, this is far from his fault.

They traded away one of their only young, improving, physical defensemen with upside for a non-physical guy about to enter the downside of his career with only a marginally better offensive sense. It was a disaster from the time the trade call went down. It was simply a matter of time before that was evidenced on the ice.

What people fail to realize is Despres was virtually the only guy that was capable of carrying scuds. Young, strong, good wheels. Could shield the puck when thrown hand grenades.

Considering his "leading by example" has turned into "leading by playing good when the team is bad & playing poorly when the team is playing well" this season, maybe leading by taking his team to task would be a change of pace. Obviously his other way hasn't really worked.
Change for the sake of change is only good when the status quo isn't working. The status quo is obviously not working. And it's not like it can get a worse result than the present approach to leadership.

I think people didn't want this job mores with the way the whole thing was handled. Hero gets canned; they keep Bylsma in limbo for a month to hire a GM, who didn't have any say in Bylsma's future and Mario canned Bylsma, not Rutherford. That isn't going to win people over.
Let's just say for poops and giggles Babcock comes (I don't see it). How long does it take him to turn this around? It won't happen instantaneously. We don't have a roster that he needs to do it. This team is fragile, old and has little in the eyes of young talent.

That is also true. But that's just on top of what I already said. Young, improving with more opportunity, physical, AND can carry Scuds.

Yeah I'm sure that has something to do with it. They mangled the process. As much as I couldn't stand Disco, they shouldn't have handled it that way.
I'm more optimistic with the roster. Especially if we can get a better 3c like Soderberg. They'll have some money to spend. Just can't make any mistakes. If there isn't a miraculous turn around I think they'll go hard after Babcock. His salary is chump change for Burkle.
