Sorry but when everyone is still slobbing his knob, calling him the best player in the world, I expect to see it on the scoresheet. Alexander "Ineverpassthepuck" Ovechkin could very well win the scoring title this season. So, either Sid the kid has peaked, or he isn't the best player in the world by very much, if at all.

- DynamicThreads

Hes number 1 in the entire league, so it is "on the scoresheet"

Past 5 seasons.

GPG: Is actually the same as last year and higher than 2012-2013 and 2011-2012.

There was at least 1 player (lockout season pro-rated) who broke the 100-point barrier each of those seasons.

If anything scoring is more spread out. But it isn't down.

I do not understand how people can argue this.

Oh he's *ONLY* the highest scoring player in the league. Ridiculous. He should be more if he wants to be the best player in the world.

He is statistically the best player in the world. this means he is not.

sayin ovie could win is nothing more than guesswork used as fact to further your narrative.
fact is, hes not gonna. cause Crosby probably is. again.

and in response to your 'everyone is slobbing his knob', id say its much closer to some irrational hate you seem to have. not the logic the rest of us have.
disregarding that scoring is down cause it doesn't jive with your argument.
disregarding that Crosby is leading the league again.

Look, I hate Crosby, but I'm not naive enough to say he's not the best player in the NHL. I hate how he's constantly mentioned in every national telecast even when Pittsburgh has nothing to do with the game...but he's still the best player out there.

Never said I hated him.

Also, Ovechkin is 1-point behind Cosby. Since everyone is bringing it up, it really isn't any difference at all. Next you'll be telling me he's played in more games so they aren't actually that close.

I triple dog dare you to put that in your video game

a 7 game series where Miller is on the better team and Crosby has Matt Ellis and Pat Kaleta as his linemates

If it weren't for him and Stamkos getting knee injuries, their totals would be much higher this year, too.

Injuries and ifs. But Pat Kane would have definately won the Art Ross had he not gotten injured.

Stamkos - 80GP - 71pts
Tavares - 79GP - 80 pts
Crosby 74GP - 81pts

So in reality if Crosby would not have missed games his totals would be much higher.

Meh, his time as the "best" in the NHL is over. He hasn't shown it this year. I don't care if he leads the league in scoring. He has 81 points, 20 less points than last year and is only 1 point ahead of Ovechkin, Tavares, and Benn. Of those, I'd argue at least 1 of them is a better all around player.

There is no reason that the "best" player in the NHL isn't winning the Art Ross by a landslide.
