100%....tough criteria though....know any top pair D under 26 with at least 5 years of reasonable term and/or rfa status?
- Jeropotato

Hypothetical here but if the Yotes finish 29th and both them and Buffalo lose the lottery AZ would probably pick Hannefin at 3rd and they would have one he11 of a pairing for the next 10 years+ with OEL.

Hanifin could do a Seth Jones slide and go 4 or 5

I didn't realize this until the other day, but if the NHL wants to grow hockey in Arizona, they should make sure that ARZ gets the 1st overall pick next year. Auston Matthews is from Arizona. What better way to grow some fans than to have probably the ONLY local kid in the NHL on their team?

I doubt AZ wins against two teams fighting to make the POs. But on Friday Buff loses big in C-Bus and we have our ticket stamped for the McEichel lottery. Mark it.

I remember hearing a stat during the playoffs (last year I think) that had something to do with being successful in the playoffs and the number of Canadian players on a team having a correlation. Basically, the more Canadian players on the team, the more successful they were during the playoffs.

Sabres win; Wisconsin loses; and Saul finale disappoints. Tough night in my house. So much "might have been."
- Der Kaiser

Why night drive over to her house and strike up a conversation. Maybe get a little stank on your hanglow.

Ummm, that actually plays right into what I said, but ok.

As far as that goes, I'm not sure if you saw, but apparently there's going to be video of the actual lottery available this year.

Arizona St just went D-1 hockey. That is going to grow the hockey market in AZ.

Hey kid you want to go play hockey in college and also live in glorious weather year round.

And it won't be rigged. However we have Buffa-luck™ on our side, which means Toronto will get McDavid.

Well how else did you mean for the NHL to "make sure" Arizona gets the 1st next year? :

I get a pit in my stomach every time I run that god-forsaken draft simulator and the first choice somehow is the Leaves.

TBH, I would not. Sabres V Leafs, McDaivd V Eichel. It would be such a great rivalry.

Jeremy White made a good point yesterday.

Sabres getting Eichel could be great in a few ways. He will always be motivated to play McDavid.

Nurse is AHL bound and if we Draft Hanefin he goes back to Jr....Mac T is a lot more careful than Tambo when it comes to the kids.We need 2 veteran top 4 D in the worst of ways.....and no amount of coaching will change the fact that Scrivens sucks balls.
- Jeropotato

I hate to tell you, but its your team defense that is just brutal. Its not all the goaltenders. I dont think its a coincidence that Fasth, Scrivens and Dubnyk can perform well in ANA, LA and ARI/MIN away from the Oilers, but are pure poop when they play for the Oil.

Ive said it several times. I really like Eichel, but finishing 30th and then losing out on McDavid because of the lottery will leave me very disappointed.

(And I am gearing up for that disappointment)

And, its a hockey blog and not the Edmonton one at that so I don't give a shizz what they do with the pick. They should move it so the player can develop somewhere and not rot away in Edmonton.

Arizona without a doubt could pass. If a team outside the bottom 2 wins he could go 4.

Also.....It's Edmonton

The "chip on the shoulder" theory has been way overplayed lately. Motivation is great, but sometimes the other player is just better. I have a feeling that's going to be the case with McDavid.

There's one scouting service that has Dylan Strome ahead of Eichel. There are absolutely a few teams that could very well take Strome before Hanifin, Buffalo being one of them if the unthinkable were to happen.
