Montreal is an "event" city. People show up for big Impact (soccer team) games at the stadium when they play meaningful games. But the rest of the season, their attendance is pathetic.

The same would happen to a baseball team. They'd get maybe 1 good season in terms of attendance, and then you'd see the numbers plummet.

- Pecafan Fan

so tired of hearing this.

It's like any other city in the world:

when the team wins people show up. when it doesn't they don't.

you can't compare the Impact to MLB it's a minor league team in a niche sport and they once again stuck a stadium in the most decrepit area of town. Impact are doomed to failure and also what kind of a stupid name is "The Impact" for a sports team.

not if they won.

the early 2000's expos would have had trouble in any market. the people also had a pretty good idea the team was leaving those last few seasons.

pretty much.

early 90's I was going to the Big O a lot and the crowd were comparable to what they are in most MLB stadiums now.

aside from the Yankees and Sox I'm not sure any of them are selling out.

if the expos somehow ended up as an AL East team and stayed competitive, they'd do well. a brand new summer, maybe even friendly, rivalry with boston.

they'll do great for a few years once the novelty is still fresh and then they'll need to do what any other sports team in north America has to do and that's field a competitive team.

That's not how I roll. I despise the Mets, Jets, Nets, Isles. And I like all four tons more than the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Rangers.
