I see where you guys were coming from now but I also think Byfuglien's crosscheck was a lot worse. Much more force, Miller was pressed against the ice, and there was more intent to injure. - rangerdanger94
You come here and chirp a lot. Its nice to see you admit something objectively. I do agree that Byfuglien's hit was more dangerous than Staal's here. The only thing I'd say to you is that Staal had multiple questionable plays on Crosby throughout that serious. I love the Staal family (besides Jared. (frank) Jared) so I actually do like Marc despite the sweater he wears, so I agree with you that he is generally not a dirty player. I understand that he was assigned to harass Crosby during that series and I get what he was doing, but he went too far.
That being said, you've come in here and called us crybabies plenty of times in reference to Staal and that series so I accept your implied apology even if its half assed |

It was a dirty play, just like Staal all last postseason. Rags fans said it was a clean play(s), not dirty at all. Now that it happens to one of their own suddenly Staal on Sid becomes "less vicious than the one Buff did to us" - znagle
I get it man |

So my statement is evil but you, your fellow Rags fans and coach were all fine with Staal taking multiple head shots at guy with severe concussion problems?

I know I just found it funny not lumping you into that group, unless you were one of those guys. I used to just read on here before I made an account. |

Especially when they were saying that he deserved it. Got to love the hypocrisy of some of their fans. They never found anything wrong with what Staal did. Now some of them are crying. But hey it's only the Pens fans that cry. |

If it makes you feel better Staal plays every superstar similarly to that. |

I still think you're comparing tangerines to oranges. They're similar, but not the same. |

Good to know, then he really deserves multiple shots to his head. If he gets concussed out of the game.....well......live by the sword, die by the sword. |

I believe one of the big accounting firms runs the show at the lottery with each team having a representative present. Anybody who thinks the lottery is rigged has to believe that Philly's owners and GM were OK with the Pens getting Crosby. That's how I know the lottery wasn't rigged. - madmike71
Yeah, I can't find the Bob MacKenzie article about it, but the TV part was just that. The actual lottery took place behind closed doors with a representative from each team and representatives from the Ernst & Young accounting firm.
To say a conspiracy happened, it would have to include every other team and a top accounting firm... And 10 years later, even those team representatives who have long since been fired, no one has gone public? Also, I believe rigging a lottery like that would be considered fraud. Why would the league and all of the other teams risk that to help Pittsburgh? Makes less than zero sense.
It's funny that Craig Patrick knew the results the whole time during the TV drawing. |

It's just bizarre that someone who has had concussion issues, and almost lost his NHL career to an injury plays that way.

He's a hard nosed defensive defenseman. He gets matched up against a ton of big, physical stars like Getzlaf, Ovechkins, Malkin. It's the only way to stop them. |

Maybe it is something I am biased to from my own experiences playing, but doesn’t it seem as if dmen are allowed to play with more contact than forwards in front of the net? They can initiate contact with enough force to knock a forward down no issue, but if a forward does the same it gets called more. Almost like the way the NFL allows offensive PI, but is strict on enforcing defensive PI. |

People aren't really expecting Kapanen to play in the NHL Playoffs are they?
Barring a rash of forward injuries, I just can't see that happening. |

Im willing to bet when the Pens can't score again and are going down, he will be called up. He can't be any worse than Bennett at this point. |

Scuds voracek rematch? - dbell646
Usually, I'd be all for that... But with the Pens luck, Scuderi would get hurt and our third defensive pairing next game would be Daniel Winnik and Nick Spaling. |

There would need to be at least 3 injuries before he's called upon. Unless he absolutely lights up the ahl |

See, that's the issue right there. You're right. It is the only way to stop him because Staal and Dubinsky cant compete with Crosby straight-up. They have to relegate themselves to punching him in the head and kicking the crap out of him and relying on the referees to look the other way 'cause its the playoffs. I look forward to Steve Downie kicking the crap out of some Ranger this year with a cheapshot. Don't come complaining on here when it happens.
The league shouldn't be allowing that kind of treatment to its star players...or any player for that matter.
Imagine the NBA allowing some scrub power-forward to work-over LeBron James. Imagine the NFL allowing some jabroni DL to work over Tom Brady all game, cheapshot him, elbow him, and break the rules.
I'm not even complaining with this post as much as I'm just pointing out, again, the stupidity of this league.
My stance on this is as long as the NHLPA allows member-on-member crime to continue, I'm cool with it. Letang's out due to a questionable hit by Doan? Cool by me. Sid's Union allows other members to kick his ass during the playoffs? OK by me. Let them kick the crap out of each other.
