Winnik likely walks for nothing and you end up missing out on 2 solid draft picks. Constantly dealing your draft picks results in guys like Sill or Farham bring the top options to be called up.
Maybe your scouting staff just needs to be revamped. Your forward scouting has been pretty abysmal. - rangerdanger94
I hate that Im agreeing with you so much today. |

what was the better Crosby performance this year. The 5 assist game vs Buffalo or the 3 assist game? - jimbro83
Obviously the 5 assist |

I'm actually satisfied, I like that a lot of his deals were 1-2 year deals (Downie, Spaling, Ehrhoff, Comeau, etc.). I think with Johnston coming in as a new coach, it was to be seen how and what types of players would work in his system, so the 1-2 year deals gave him flexibility and the chance to walk away from players if he felt they didnt work in the system. With all that money coming off the books, and then some with either Martin or Hoff or both leaving, Adams done, Lapi, maybe Bennett playing himself out of Pittsburgh... I know its not much money a mil here a mil there, but it'll add up and give him time to fully construct a roster him and Johnston believe can thrive in their system. For a first year, I'm cool with it. I for one don't put as much stock in the draft picks that some people do, there are other means of acquiring players (signing them right out of college for example) And with the Penguins window getting shorter, they are going to have to acquire players to win now, so (frank) the cupboards! I know, sounds stupid, but I believe their are ways around it. - j.boyd919
Rangers know all about signing college free agents. Hayes
Picks are pretty valuable because you can turn something like a 3rd into a top prospect like Duclair and then use that to acquire another extremely talented player. If you take the deal we sent Zona and replace Duclair with a 3rd, no chance it gets done.
Hornqvist was a 7th round pick I believe. He's a pretty talented player.
The odds of a 2nd round pick or 3rd or 4th or whatever turning into a player are low on their own, but when you own 7 or more picks in a draft in every round, the chances of drafting a real player increases significantly. |

that 5 assist game Crosby had vs Buffalo was amazing though. I gotta give him that. - jimbro83
You keep posting this as if 15 players put up 5 assists against the Sabres. Seeing how there have been two players to have 5 assists in any game this season I would still call it an accomplishment. |

Totally agree there, thought they should have been next to go after DB and Shero got nixed. |

They try that set play a lot but 9 out of 10 times they don't get the "kick". Got lucky last night but it ended up being a beauty. - rangerdanger94
It's a good trap/press breaker. I hope the Penguins staff noticed. That could really be lethal for the right player if the Penguins play the Islanders and they forecheck with 3 men. |

To do stuff like that, we need good scouts.. and I think our's are absolutely atrocious.. thought they should have been nixed a long time ago.

I wouldn't trade our prospect pool for yours. |

Winnik probably resigns if it's a decent deal we offer, if not so be it we'll use the money elsewhere. You guys have no first rounder for a few years correct? And haven't had one for a few years? You guys also traded you're best prospect in the Yandle deal which was an over payment IMO...
Our scouting is fine, we always pick dmen (or used to under Shero). We've hit on all of those picks though. We have Sundqvist, Kasperi and Blueger as our top forward prospects. - znagle
Is the Yandle deal still an overpayment if we win the Cup? |

everything I have said is hockey related, when you lose the argument, you resort to words like "troll and idiot"
case in point - jimbro83
Hmm, lets see. Posting a video of someone calling Crosby a baby and then saying he made up a wrist injury. Then saying Im losing an argument we arent even having.
Yeah, Ill stick by the idiot comment. |

You're a blindly biased fan without a shred of objectivity. The people that get paid to assess these things are far more likely to be right than you. And they have the Rags as one of the worst prospect pools in the league.

Is the St Louis an overpayment since you lost the Cup last year? Thats really just a dumb point, or every team but the cup winner overpays for any trade when they ship out picks. |

well, that kind of only happened because of the typical Martin St. Louis dead mother comment, which is very original |

No, but if not it will be a huge overpayment. I think the Lightning get to the Cup this year, of course only if we fail... But I have faith, playoffs are a different animal. |

It's a fact the Rangers have 3 rookies in their lineup this year. No objectivity there.
It's a fact that you guys were forced to play Sill in your lineup because you had no other options while we have Lindberg in the AHL a who was one of the most asked about prospects at the deadline.
Those prospect rankings are based more on having elite talent in the pool, which the Rangers don't really have. But the Rangers do have a lot of depth talent in our system and continue to spit out quality NHL players year over year despite low rankings. |

Yes. A big fat guy at CB Park vomited on an off-duty police Captain and his 11 year old girl. The girl asked the fat guy if he wouldn't mind watching where he was spitting and maybe stop cursing and spilling beer near them. 2010 I think. |

I don't think Yandle was an overpayment even if we lose for the record. |
