Everyone rags on Sutter but yet no one can name an attainable better replacement. If you want ROR or Staal, better be willing to sacrifice future and be limited with building around them. We'll have to sign bum players like zack boychuck, glass, payatt, etc.. Sutter is fine with what he brings to the table. In fact, if he wouldn't have been in such a slump earlier this year, he would have broken his goal record and probably have put in 25 or so. - joescullz
I think Berglund was available earlier. Sutter has picked up his offensive game lately. The problem is that thats not really needed with 87 and 71. A shutdown 3C is what the Pens need. Thats not Sutter. |

Its not, but if you're moving someone like Sutter or Scuds most likely there is salary coming back the other way. I can't imagine a GM taking either for a pick. I think it would have happened if it were possible. - sammy87
I think Rutherford has a far higher opinion of Sutter than you and I do. I'm also confident his value is much higher than Scuderi's. He was compared to Artem Anisimov in his summer contract negotiations. Even if getting low value, he could be moved for something. Scuderi is probably universally identified for being a negative asset. |

I dont think Sutter is terrible, he's just not right for this team and his role here is killing his value. He could be a decent low cost 2C somewhere else. But a shutdown 3C is whats needed here. |

Agreed. And you can't move Sutter until you a replacement. |

Sutter's value is not bad... and I do not know if he is really our #2 player to get rid of. Scuds obviously #1.
I hate Sutter, but he scores goals. I think he REALLY needed tested out as a winger with Spaling manning the 3rd line earlier on in this season, or during the injury times. Something to put him in position for his shot to be seen more often and see how he plays there. In my mind (I am sure those who have played hockey a bit further on than I did or bit better knowledge wise), a winger is not as defensively liable as a center. A move to wing for him should be a double benefit to his bad advanced stats by reducing his D errors, and increasing shot chances from a more well rounded center. |

Not worried about the injuries. It's been the apathy that has found its way to this team that concerns me. Autopilot since December and if this team has proven anything in the last few years it is that they cannot suddenly find the on switch when their backs are against the wall. One and done again this year. |

No they haven't. Penguins fans would be thrilled to have such a injury-free season. Rangers in MGL are 2nd healthiest team this year. Missed a lot of time with Lundqvist, but they are healthy now heading into the postseason. Opposite of Pittsburgh.

You must not have the ability to read... your team has the 2nd LEAST injuries. Yes, you can claim losing your best player, but overall injury wise, you are a golden team of luck. Now get a brain and shut the (frank) up. |

Why so testy? Jesus. I was just saying we had our fair share
Edit: star players injuries far out weigh anything. We're so low because our bottom guys, like glass, moore etc haven't missed time |

Big deal. Minor injuries. Take away Zuccarello, Boyle, and Staal for the season and see how far you go.

The TMITT-skater is 10th lowest. Lundqvist is the only major injury and he is back now so it's not like it will have a lasting impact on the team in the postseason.

Dupuis alone sure. Dupuis, Maatta, and Ehrhoff is too much. And it would be the same with any other NHL team, including the Rangers.

So... a 1st line winger in use (Dupuis), 2nd pairing defensmen (Maatta) for near the entire season.
And now the 2nd center (Malkin), another 1st line winger (Horny0, and another 2nd pairing defenseman (Ehrhoff), out every other day.
Yeah, middle of the road players for us just because it wasn't Crosby with a long injury. Just get out troll, you're an idiot.
And yes, NOW this is testy, because you are either a complete moron, or trolling. Neither of which is welcome here. |

Replacing one player, regardless of their ability, is much easier than replacing a number of top end players. Pittsburgh has been very successful in the regular season in the past without Crosby. Chicago is doing it now without Kane. Like I said before, take away a number of starters on the NYR lineup for the season and they wouldn't have the depth to compensate- just as no team in the salary cap era can. |
