Ill be at the game tonight representing! Not close enough to the ice to bring a sign that youd see, but Ill make sure to boo everytime Sutter touches the puck.

I will be there as well... guessing it's going to be empty so maybe if we really wanted to, we could sneak down to ice level with some signs

You think you'll be able to find an undersized agitator who's relatively slow and has some finishing ability and a penchant for blowing a gasket and taking irresponsible penalties? I'd like to see you try to find a gold mine like that.

He is at least capable of playing at an NHL level, which is more than can be said for some on our current roster

..I somehow believe this question won't be asked on any other blogs...or forums...or voting bodies...
No, he's having a good year. A bounce-back year from embarrassing himself in the playoffs. He's not having a Price year, a Rinne year, a Dubnyk year, or even a Ben Bishop or Corey Crawford year.
Nine shutouts doesn't compensate.

Yes Price, Rinne and Dubnyk do have better #s but Fleury has comparable #s to Bishop and Crawford.

If MAF is getting Vezina votes, then Steve Mason should be as well, especially considering the defense in front of him.

Not saying he's bad at all, but he's definitely not in the ultra elite group this year.

So we're saying Fleury is comparable to two other goalies who nobody is considering for the Vezina?

This would be the year for the writers to give Fleury his third-place considerations due since it's Price's award hands down. If MAF were a serious threat to win it I can't imagine the hype that would be piled upon Ryan Miller and his heroic comeback narrative or the keen navigation of Jaroslav Halak through the historic last season at Nassau.

Whoa Erik Karlsson has 18 goals. OEL has 17 but 9 are PPGs.

Fleury will never win a Veizina... His season begins game one of the first round... Which is ironic because In the minds of the majority of hockey ignoramus' if the Pens lose its his fault and he sucks (Like the Rags series last year) even though it has no basis in reality... If the Pens go deep in the playoffs but lose it will be because of the reasons stated above... If the Pens win the cup then it will be inspite of Fleury... (this includes some Pens fans ) The reason is the Iles series a few years back, to a lesser extent the Flyers... other then that hes been solid since 2008
Fleury could play like 1998 Hasek and the majority will give him zero credit.

Reality is he is a solid, but at times inconistent goaltender.... Until 3 games ago his numbers were as good as any in the league except Price.... He is the Penguins MVP this year and he is better then most give him credit for...

I would agree that Dubnyk should be in the conversation but think a full years work is necessary for the Vezina.

As far as the Hart goes though, has there been anyone more valuable to a team then Dubnyk? The coach was on the skewer and the team was hopeless, now they could easily be in the finals!

Just goes back to the old debate; more valuable to the team or league-wide.

The Hart is SUPPOSED to be the player judged to be most valuable to his team. Sadly, it usually becomes "the best player on a playoff team."

I dont see how anyone other than Johnny T wins the Hart. Look at the top 6* in pts. 2 Penguins, 2 Caps and Tavares. That guy is amazing. Price will get his Vezina.

Edit: Didnt realize Voracek had snuck back in there til I did some fact checking.

I'm not sure what having a 1 point edge in the scoring race has to do with being the player most valuable to your team. He's a good player, no doubt, but I'm not sure he's been more valuable to his team than Weber has been to Nashville, or Tarasenko to St. Louis, or Nash to the Rangers, Price to Montreal, and so on and so on. It's not as simple as "You're the only player on your team in the top-5 in league scoring, so you win the Hart."

And by the way, there are not 2 Pens in the top 5 in scoring.

MAF will rightfully get votes, besides Downie he has been our team MVP.

After some looking, Dubnyk definitely deserves a Hart nomination.

He's second in save percentage and goals against, and ninth in wins. All while playing half a season with Arizona. Add on top of that reviving the Wild.

Nobody offensively has separated themselves enough from the rest of the league, nor done enough for one team single-handedly. Tavares is likely the closest for the offensive guys, point lead or not.

Same goes for defensemen. How do you include Weber when the team has turned to offense this year? P.K. is playing in front of Price. Karlsson has come on since February 10th, but like the other guys he's not in the Hart running.

I thought Rinne was running away with it before the injury, now it looks like Price for goalies.

I'd go with Dubnyk, Price, and Tavares. Although it is the NHL, I'm sure OV will eventually get the nod.

Theres a good article in SI about the Wings Euro scouts. Really interesting! That being said, if Kap and Sundquest arent as advertised Pens are in trouble. Looking at the young Wings picks that contribute, its just a joke what the Pens have.

But this is HB - just giving an opinion strongly implied usually gets it done.

Kasperi is what he is. A good 3rd line/borderline 2nd line guy who plays responsibly and can chip in on offense.

Carey Price should get the Vezina and the Hart in my opinion, the Habs would be nowhere without him.

Ovie's definitely having a great season, but he's stuck with half a dozen other guys right around 70 points. Given their similar point totals, I find it really hard to nominate a guy like Ovechkin over Tavares, when Ovechkin is being set up by a guy like Backstrom, who arguably should be in the running as well. The Islanders have some good young talent, but no one anywhere near Backstrom, which makes what JT is doing on his own all the more impressive.

That said, all bets are off if Ovie hits 50 goals this season, but I still think Price will win hands down.
