Fleury only gave up 2 really bad goals in that Columbus series, the pitiful mishandle behind the net, and the following one in overtime since he was just done after the mistake.

But if you want to put those higher GAAs on him, you're a bit dumb. The defense and bottom lines hung him out to dry so much. Despite his stats being bad last postseason, I don't think anyone here will disagree with Fleury being the best since the Cup Loss season, and he should not be our #1 worry in the post season.

- Guile

Obviously you are a big Fleury fan! 18 goals in 6 games is an average of 3 goals a game. "Hung out to dry"?? All goalies are hung out to dry during games and come up with big saves despite as you say being hung out to dry. Do you really think he is the only goalie having to face tough situations during the playoffs? If you do I think, you're a bit naive.

If Pouliot is going to be the odd man out, i wonder how he would do as a winger? I know Letang and Gologoski were used as one a few times in their young careers.

How sad is it that the Pens bottom 6 is so bad that Dmen are possible better options?

If we are in the playoffs by the time 1-2 weeks go by. We aren't scoring against good teams and not preventing ANYONE from scoring on us.
- chimpira

Also, Ruth said they could both miss at least 3 games. Not sure of the schedule but I don't think we have only 3 games in the next 2 weeks. Also not sure on the extent of the injuries, hopefully they don't linger.

Nope, not a huge Fleury fan... just much more intelligent than you. I'd rather spend time figuring out how to improve the black holes that are Scuderi, Lapierre, and Sutter than come sprinting here to cry about Fleury after one of his worst games in what is his best or 2nd best season.

I think this team needs to miss the playoffs to really fix some of the issues that have been lingering for years - that "untouchable" feeling where no one has any discipline. Have you actually seen the new coach yell just once - during an arguable call or otherwise? He seems to only talk to players off the ice. He has that Public Accountant Look. And look at other coaches - Boudreau, Trotz, Babcock, Lavy ... I want to see G-d Damn emotion on the bench. Helmet bashing, yelling type of stuff.

Tortorella is available... But we are a much better team than we were under Shero/Bylsma. MJ/Ruth have made a lot of progress so far. Half of our team is new. I think they are doing a good job. They will not ditch MJ after one season.. how does that look to other coaches? Not sure of the term MJ has but I think it's two years. I would love Babcock but that will not happen, he will be in Detroit still.

First of all I am not coming on here talking about MAF based on his last two games. I have said that he has played well this regular season. What I am saying is that his playoff record over the last five years is cause for concern.

As far as you making personal statements about me being a bid dumb or that you are more intelligent than me without even knowing anything about me shows your maturity level. By the way tell me what makes you so intelligent? Education? Job success? Wealth?

I want to say they gave MJ 3 years... I know it wasn't 1 year.

Still need to find a suitor for Scuderi at the draft... I'm willing to throw in Bartley's first born child and a lifetime supply of urine filled balloons for any team who will take him off our hands.

Everything the refs handed out misconducts for was the right call, Downie pushing the ref, Kunitz shooting the puck at the ref, Letang mouthing off (and probably crossing the line) at a ref. You can't do these things, they deserved the misconducts 100%.
- j.boyd919

Looks like refs are growing tired of it.

The Penguins have earned the undesirable reputation with several of the referees for having too much to say. As a team, they need to turn off the tap on their own as they move toward the playoffs. The referees' patience has already worn thin.

Randy Carlyle and Paul McLean are also available, right? I kind of liked the Walrus. He wasn't a "Player's Coach". I never liked "Player's Coaches". You don't want to be friends with people who work for you. You want to be feared.

I loved the explosion of emotion this weekend, I realize we lost both games and got utterly dominated in one. I still liked the raw emotion, especially from Tanger. We need a few more games like this, just to grow as a group; Downie is the team MVP.

I hate "player coaches" too, but coaches don't get away with being "feared" anymore. Most of these players know that conflict will bring the demise of a coach more so than the player.....especially good players.

I want no part of Carlyle, but I do like McLean.

That helps in one direction. But we also can give up 4 goals to a team like Edmonton. So, I wouldn't even put the 2 games against the Coyotes in the bag ...

It was 2 bad games this weekend... One 87 and 71 basically weren't a part of. The other game was a poop storm and we lost a few guys for the game due to penalties/injuries. We were 7-2-1 last 10 before that...

So why did Kunitz feel the need to come out of the penalty box after the period had ended (he was serving a penalty) and take a whack at the puck? We'll disagree about his shooting it towards (not at) a ref to make a point, but even if he wasn't shooting it at a ref, it's still a completely stupid thing to do which no good can come of.
- jmatchett383

Frustrated players hit the puck down the ice all the time. I have never seen it result in a 10min misconduct before. I agree nothing good can come of it, but cmon... 10 minutes? Those refs were blowing out there chest and saying "Ill show you" to the Pens. And they did. At some point, its on the refs as much as the players to put their egos away.

Close, but no cigar. I am only mad at coach for not holding people like Kuni and Tanger accountable for all the childish crap. I guess I wanted to see some emotion/anger/whatever out of HCMJ and I have not yet this season.

Well, thats a problem. And I dont just mean for the Pens. If the refs are handing out penalties to the Penguins quicker than other teams because "the Pens need to learn a lesson" then that is biased officiating.

You don't think that's handled behind doors? MJ even had some quotes to the public on all of it. He's not just feeding him players warm cookies and milk while rubbing their bellies and telling them it will be okay.

I guess I am not sure about if it's really being handled, per se. This was the first post-game where he said that there seemed to be a problem. But when I am mad about something, you will hear it my voice. You will be convinced that I am freaking mad about it and won't tolerate it. HCMJ - I just don't see the fire and anger. Hopefully I am wrong but he doesn't seem like a disciplinarian.

Whats MJ supposed to do, bench Kuni for BB? The top 6 can do whatever they want and the coach has his hands tied.

Pens can't fire MJ cuz nobody really wanted the job to begin with.

I don't think the world is burning, the Pens just aren't that good of a team and the coach is a big? Thats been the story for about 5 years now.
