It's an unwritten rule to not mention any healthy comments with the Penguins...

per the Pens and HCMJ:

Horny will not travel out about a week, Malkin is day to day won't leave with the team but may join later.

Before yesterdays game, we actually had a nice stretch of games where we didn't overreact. We were like what, 7-2-1? The game was already out of reach yesterday when things really started boiling over with Kunitz/Letang. Terrible officiating yesterday, not only with Kunitz but all the should be interference calls. I can't believe they didn't at least call the one that lead to their fifth goal when we were behind their net and we were interfered with (dropped to the ice) and they went down and scored. We actually put up like 40 shots yesterday too. We haven't won one game this year trailing after the second period. Let that sink in.

He's actually been the least of worries the last 2 playoff years. And I didn't see the Edmonton game, but his team gave him little chance yesterday. But it doesn't matter now, the Penguins committed to his when they resigned him.

Didn't two years ago MAF get chased by the Islanders and Tomas Vokoun had to take over? Last year he gave up an average of 3 goals/game vs columbus but the Pens offense help them move on? Then against the Rangers I think RW pointed out that in 5 of the 7 games his sv% was .90 or less??

We have to disagree that he was/is the least of their worries. Although they seem to have many he certainly (despite having a good regular season this year so far) is a giant question mark going into the playoffs.

Buy the way I lived in Philly from 1973-79 when only the "lord saved more than Bernie Parent" so I like you, so have some love for both PA teams.

Fleury only gave up 2 really bad goals in that Columbus series, the pitiful mishandle behind the net, and the following one in overtime since he was just done after the mistake.

But if you want to put those higher GAAs on him, you're a bit dumb. The defense and bottom lines hung him out to dry so much. Despite his stats being bad last postseason, I don't think anyone here will disagree with Fleury being the best since the Cup Loss season, and he should not be our #1 worry in the post season.

IMO the 2 players that really need to start producing are Winnik & Bennett. We all know JR paid a lot to get Winnik but that appears to be an understatement at this point. Beau is pretty much useless out there... Heck even Adams has better value than Beau does. Adams can at least kill penalties.

BB can kill penalties, when he's serving the 2min misconduct!

But yeah, BB, Winnick, Adams, Sutter, Spaling, so much meh out there.

Im sorry, but the officiating yesterday was absolutely awful. I agree the Pens lose their composure alot but it sure seemed like the refs wanted to hand out 10 minute misconducts for just about everything yesterday. To me it was more on the refs doing an awful job than the Pens losing their cool.
- thickman1178

Officiating the Pens game definitely changed after Crosby showed up ref against the Rags. No doubt composure was lost but the non stop defending off a poopty NHL product baffles me. The refs were as bad as our team was and had their hand in the outcome. End of Story.

If Pouliot is going to be the odd man out, i wonder how he would do as a winger? I know Letang and Gologoski were used as one a few times in their young careers.

and after this little episode EVERYONE in playoffs will (frank) with us now, and the Refs are real happy with us. Downie has great hands and a little speed , can think quickly and finish, that being said I think they(coaches) hang him by thumbs and then explain how stay in control of himself.

I stick by my bb cmment regarding hes the 2.0 version of dustin jeffrey. I honestly think at this point hes as good and no better than dustin jeffrey. Maybe their potential is different, but I recall jeffrey being sloghtly better dsy in day out. Basically dime a dozen unfortunately. ..winnik is a solid player, who over achieved with toronto. I didnt expect him to come and and peoduce offensively like he did on toronto at least...though I expected a touch more offensive output from him I will say...

Downie deserved his. I dont think he really meant to shove the linesman the way he did. He kind offell and brought the guy down with him, but he also didnt stop when the linesman was telling him to. Not that all players do (they typically dont), but they also dont pull a linseman down.

But saying Kunitz shot the puck at the ref is like saying a dump in is shooting it at them. That one im not buying.

- thickman1178

So why did Kunitz feel the need to come out of the penalty box after the period had ended (he was serving a penalty) and take a whack at the puck? We'll disagree about his shooting it towards (not at) a ref to make a point, but even if he wasn't shooting it at a ref, it's still a completely stupid thing to do which no good can come of.

DP was sent down so we could call Ebbett up, he didn't play in the teams last AHL game if that counts. He'll be back.

I think Pouliot has a much more complete game at this point in his career than Letang or GoGo did early in their careers where they were basically offensive-minded defenders. GoGo actually never really broke out of that. If Pouliot's in the lineup, he should be on the back end.

Agreed. Having him and Letang is a huge boost on the backend and in the transition game. Pouliot can only get better too.. I can't wait to see how he progresses in the future. He'll be back in Pitt once we are h*****y (not saying it)

So about that long for Horny too. Looks like we will have fresher legs for the playoffs at least.

If we are in the playoffs by the time 1-2 weeks go by. We aren't scoring against good teams and not preventing ANYONE from scoring on us.
