If we can sign Mike Green (or another top 3 defenceman), I'd trade Tanev for a NHL ready - Grade A prospect.
Jeff Skinner (not a prospect)
Evgeny Kuznetsov
Leon Dreiseitl
Someone of that Ilk.
Definitely easier said than done, but should at least be explored. Tanev is a great defensive defenceman, but he's not going to score many points in his career. If we're paying Tanev 4-5 million over 4-5 years, we're essentially limiting the amount of offence that 4-5 million can produce over the long term. |

I'd be really happy if we got Tanev for $4 million for 4-5 years. 5 million and I start getting concerned, especially with his injuries.
I'm not sure how much money Green will cost or what kind of return Tanev would get us but I wouldn't be against it if the perfect storm hit. |

Personally, I'd be ALOT happier having Green and Leon Dreiseitl than just Tanev alone. Even if it costs 3 Million more. |

That's assuming Tanev lands you Draisaitl. |

True bro, I am speaking hypothetically. Still, I do believe all the scenarios should be explored. |

Miles Liberati? Even McEneny? Both in there 20 year old seasons and are 10th and 20th in scoring for defence in the OHL.
Corrado had 45 points in his OA year. - manvanfan
I was referencing D-players I figured were strongest candidates to possibly get a call up next year.
They were not on that list. |

I'm all for that.
I can't get behind doing something like asking the twins to waive, maybe not even KB. Those guys are lifers, might take lesser contracts down the road. |

there's certainly a premium on any sort of puck moving/skating defenesman. Too bad Green is so fragile, otherwise I wouldn't mind throwing some $$ at him. But it's just too much of a risk to tie up dollars (significant dollars) in someone who you can't trust to play more than 50 games a season. |

Pay Tanev the money. He's worth every penny. I'd entertain a 7 year 49 million dollar deal. He's that good. |

yikes, seems quite steep for me, although I realize that is about the market value for 1-3 defenseman. What's worse, though, is the term. Of course who knows, it could be a stroke of genius in taking him off the market and locking him up for essentially the majority of his career but still a gamble (which personally I wouldn't make) |

Subban is getting 9 million lol. Chara 7 million.
Totally realistic for a top pairing d man. Heck Methot just hit 6 million almost. |

Am I alone in thinking that Frankie Corrado is overrated by the Canucks' coaching staff? He entered the lineup in place of Clendening who, in my opinion, is a much better player. Even Biega would be a better option than Corrado.
I think the Canucks should try to trade Corrado. The Canucks have some great defense prospects in the system, primarily with the dynamic play of Jordan Subban. He is going to be in the top pairing, and will likely be as competent a player as his brother Malcolm, or potentially better. Beyond Subban, the Canucks have Evan McEneny, Henrik Tommernes, and Ben Hutton. These 4 defensive prospects are the future of the Canucks organization along with top forward prospects Horvat, Cassels, McCann, Virtanen, Shinkaruk, and Gaunce.
Anyone care to weigh in? Carol, your thoughts please!? - monsmaark

That's a lot of money for Subban even though he's far more dynamic. He's about to score 50 pts for the 2nd year in a row, has won a Norris. Chara was worth 7 million, now he's just finishing his deal. Methot makes 4.9 |

Their schedule is the easiest of the teams chasing a playoff spot. |

I posted a video a few days ago showcasing his brutal (in a good way) body checks. I'd pay him 9 mill to add that dynamic to the canucks alone. |

I know, that's why I would like them to get on with it and start the dive now, not lay the boots into Anaheim.

You seem to be the one overrating defense prospects. It's where we are weakest. We have no great D prospects... just some hopefuls and they are way behind Corrado.

For those of you into big red wines, I tried something really excellent tonight. Sorry VANTEL, it's out of your price range, about $55.
Domaine Boucabeille - Cotes du Roussillon Villages "Les Orris" 2011. At BC government specialty stores (39th & Cambie, Richmond Brighouse, Park Royal, Fort & Foul Bay - Victoria).
You won't be disappointed. |
