What a complete and utter (frank)-show that organization is!! The Canucks have been there as well, but they take the Gold ribbon in dysfunction seven days a week without question!! - LeftCoaster
It becomes more unbelievable as each week passes but watch the lemmings continue to fill that building each night. |

You peaked our interest.
On a lighter note, I can't stay away from the train wreck the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to be. The comments sections following the media articles are a great read.
The absolute epitome of dysfunction. - Marwood
Assuming that the rumors are true and Kessel, Dion, and co are truly being shopped, it looks like Shanny has made the clear decision to go full rebuild. There are no cornerstones that I can see presently in that organization to build off of so they'll need to rely on the upcoming drafts and whatever they get in return in trade.
It will get worse before it gets better you'd imagine. |

But the Oilers have been around since 79 and won FIVE Stanley Cups in the that time, I'm thinking of the big picture here, the Leafs have been a circus since the 70's - not even a Cup final.
Although they had periods where they iced a competitive team in the 90's and early 2000's, they've been dysfunctional for DECADES |

Funny you brought this up. One of the Mfg's at my work came by and gave me 2 tickets for tonight's game against Sabres. I told him I cant go because tonight Suits is on and I don't want to miss it. He didn't seem to like my response. As well. |

The amount of time Sportsnet and TSN spend on the Leafs We have tight playoff races for a good number of Canadian teams and it is all the soap opera that is Toronto on these channels.
I don't really give a sh!t about what is happening behind the scenes and then you hear Dreger drone on at length about other reporters speculating on how many times Kadri has been late to meetings/practices when he says he doesn't know, so nobody really knows...
Small doses, okay, but it will get old. The old, just you wait until Shanahan is done with this rebuild, the Leafs will be restored to their rightful place on the iron throne, ruling the seven kingdoms and the Atlantic divison....

Interesting, I'll have to check it out, I did notice that Soderbergh was the one of the producers and he is a master of editing film in very powerful ways and is the main reason I have some doubt about the original content vs what is actually portrayed in the film. - belcherbd
Is it on Netflix?

Fair enough, but I tend to judge teams on what they have done or not done recently, I don't particularly think that anything accomplished beyond the past 10 years is relevant in any sport.
Edm has had 10 1st round picks in the last 8 years including 3 1st overall, a 6th, 7th and a 10th.
Tor had had 7 in the last 8 years with 2 5th overall, a 7th and an 8th.
Both look to be bottom 5 in the league this year but the disparity in talent is huge ( or at least opportunity to acquire it), when you consider that the leafs have made the playoffs once during that time and have come much closer than the oilers did in that time as well.
Do I hate the Toronto Media, yes,
are the leafs a joke, yes
But imo the oilers are still the most dysfunctional from an organizational standpoint. |

No, I disagree. Edmonton stuck with their plan and while true, they have not yet reaped benefits, they had a plan.
Toronto flies by the seat of their pants. No plan what-so-ever.
Hands down TO is the worst organization top to bottom.

You think they planned on being this bad year after year? maybe a couple of season but really they have had all the opportunity in the world to improve their club and again this year have a shot at #1 overall.
The leafs tried to stay competitive, did it work, no but they still managed to ice a much better team with a lot less talent ( or opportunity to acquire it).
Was that the right plan, I don't know but it is the same one the Canucks are embarking on. |

No one planned to be bad, year after year. They will get there. It doesn't help that no free agents will sign there due to the actual climate.
I say "actual" because Toronto has simply created a climate that does not allow UFAs to join.
The correct method would be to benningize the team, making it younger, while balancing vets while removing Keslers.
There is a fine balance that TO or EDM have failed to do so. Maybe in the furture, it will be proven the Canucks made similar mistakes but I do not see a crop of young stars on Toronto as I do in Edmonton and, for a lesser part, Vancouver. |

Fair enough - hard to debate that. Canucks have had their fair share of dysfunction but at least we've managed to go to Cup finals in 82-94-11. |
