Call me young and ignorant. But I havent got the slightest clue who that is. But being a lover of documentaries I will definitely check it out. |

Vancouver has a rich hockey past. It's just the present (and foreseeable future) that's giving fans the shaft. |

Never heard of it. Explain... - vancity787
It's a real live account of how Edward Snowden exposed the United States government's spy programs. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen, and definitely the best documentary I've ever seen. The level of scrutiny involved in bringing that story to light was incredible. Watch it if you can.
The people involved in making that movie, and exposing the spy programs, are flagged by the U.S as dangerous. Wherever they make contact with a branch of the U.S. Government they are now detained for questioning. |

What do you mean by "real live account", I am interested in seeing it and will for sure after watching the trailer and reading others and yourself speaking highly of it but isn't it an edited documentary?
Most documentaries while dealing with actual events still usually come from a place of bias and tend to lead the viewer along a certain path. |

When Edward Snowden decided he was going to expose the U.S, he hand picked journalists and made contact with them. One of them was the director of the movie. What the movie shows us is how they developed the articles that revealed the spy programs, and what happened in the hotel room after the news went viral.
You can sense the fear that enveloped that room when the journalists were first hearing what this guy had to say. Before the cameras were turned on, no one had the slightest clue about this guy, or why he had forced them to fly to Hong Kong.
Basically, the movie gives us a glimpse in to how the story was bought to public attention. It's like a spy thriller/horror/documentary all rolled up into one true story. I watched it stoned. I'd recommend you watch it high too. |

Interesting, I'll have to check it out, I did notice that Soderbergh was the one of the producers and he is a master of editing film in very powerful ways and is the main reason I have some doubt about the original content vs what is actually portrayed in the film. |

Funny how a 3rd is considered a low round pick now a year later and I'm pretty sure some were penciling him in the lineup as soon as next year.
Ya, I remember that he was adamant about honoring his contract as well but hard to know what the sentiment is when it is through a translator. I believe he would be eligible for AHL right away but imagine he would be bound for Kalamazoo. - belcherbd
For some reason I thought he was picked in the 5-7 rounds, I stand corrected. I have higher hopes for him now then |

Very interesting.
Did it just hit the theater or is it like a Netflix thing?

It's on VOD I believe. You can probably find it online too, but not on Netflix. |

It's the most troubling documentary I think I've ever seen, especially considering it's not something that has been caught or is being reversed but it seems like they're advancing the work and tightening their grip. Not to sound like a 1984 conspiracy theorist but this is pretty much how it would start. |

On a lighter note, I can't stay away from the train wreck the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to be. The comments sections following the media articles are a great read.

What a complete and utter (frank)-show that organization is!! The Canucks have been there as well, but they take the Gold ribbon in dysfunction seven days a week without question!! |
