It wasn't trolling—more of acknowledgement that I've had my eye on your debate—which I didn't want to address while he was sidelined. His injury history does concern me.
Watching him play, I'm constantly surprised how a guy like Tanev can be as good as he is at his job. It's just so...unlikely.
When he first arrived, I couldn't believe that the skinny kid out of college never took a penalty. This year, I've been blown away at how he has managed to bring out the best in his partner Edler and developed into a true top-pairing guy.
Last night, it seemed like the whole team's defensive responsibility made a huge shift with him back in the lineup.
He's tall but not big, not especially strong, isn't a big personality and he has the slowest-moving shot I've ever seen (though a bit better than it used to be).
But he's indispensable.
He'd be great trade bait, and he's probably in position to demand a big contract after waiting around for the past two years. But I don't think the Canucks can afford to lose him. - Carol Schram
That comment was bang on though. With the amount of young players sprinkled through the line up and the off season approaching, cap space will be there for Tanev and if the dynamics of the team change, I doubt his new contract wont be reasonable enough to use as an asset payoff.
Injuries...definitely a concern and I'm not just thinking about reoccurring types. He has one glaring hole in his game if you don't categorize him as an offensive. It's how vulnerable he makes himself to crushing hits. The dedication to make that defensive play is incredible but I'd rather he turn the puck over and cause a goal than get injured for months at a time.
I can almost hear Henrik saying in his ear... "stay in Van, be reasonable. You got a good thing going with Edler getting top minutes". Everything could change if he ended up playing big money on a different team. I'll be surprised if his contract exceeds 4mil. Top pair shut down dman and one of the best at it...worth it.

Anything on the rib eyes? Salt, pepper, Montreal steak spice? - Makita
Rib Eyes are arguably the best cut with the right marbling. A former high end chef buddy of mine shared a little steak secret ingredient when cooking on the bbq...REAL salted butter. Sure lightly spicing the steak with salt/pepper and even a mild bit of garlic works great but man that salted butter trick really works. The key is not to use too much on the barby or it will burn like crazy. Trick is to cut about a 1/8" slice off the salted butter block for EACH side of the steak while cooking. Lightly spice rub with salt/pepper/garlic on each side before grilling and as you place the steak on the bbq put one slice of the salted butter on the top of the steak to allow it to seep in while cooking. Depending on ribeye thickness high heat 4-5 min/side will get you medium. Flip ONCE then add the other slice of butter to the top while the final 5 minutes cook down. The butter not only moistens the meat while cooking but adds a nice singe/flavour with the grill marks and darkened fat. Can't stress enough though to be careful while cooking too much butter and it could be a hockey puck steak.
I had a ribeye at Ruth-Chris awhile back and they did it that way with garlic butter it came out nicely blackened on the hot skillet...it was truly outstanding.

That's it right there.
People who are open to moving him due to some assumed salary demand need to take a serious look at our d-depth, both at the pro and amateur level not to mention the UFA pool is pure garbage.
Boychuk at 6+ mill for 6+ years no thank you, and that's IF he hits the market which i seriously doubt he will.
Tanev is the what? Like the only top four guy we have developed over the last 4-5 years?

Hopefully I don't get banned for how pornographic this is:

I don't get why people on the West Coast cheer for the Jays? They're 3400 Km's away from Vancouver...yes I understand they're in a Canadian province, but who cares, half the league is closer to Vancouver and plays in our time zone. - LeftCoaster
I was born in Toronto in 78. Many people in Vancouver are originally from out east.
In 92 the Mariners were crap and Jays were about to win back to back World Series. I was 14-15 at the time and will always be a die hard jays fan.
Vancouver tries so hard to push the Mariners on us. way more jays fans here than Mariners fans. Annual trip to see jays Mariners at safeco is a must for any sports fan. 50/50 split , if not 60/40 jays. Great atmosphere. - Scooby_Doo
I just purchased 10 tickets for all 3 games behind the jays dugout and 5 rooms at the stadium hotel. Going to be mayhem!
I should have qualified that statement by saying people, such as myself, who were born and raised on the West Coast.
I don't cheer against the Jays, I'm just not a die-hard fan...Oakland on the other hand, is my team. Same time zone, West Coast team, were good when I was growing up. - LeftCoaster
You must be late 40's? Everyone I know is a diehard jays fan (born an raised North Shore). Obviously the 92/93 seasons influenced us

Sweet. We sat there one game last year. The other game was behind home plate. We sat down and literally 10 seconds later Reyes hit Hernandez first pitch into right field seats. Was my dads first game at safeco, unreal experience.

I'd rather see Biega on the ice than Corrado. didn't see corrado with any physical play, either that or he was unnoticeable. Biega just has to time his hits and keep his positional play solid, which he should get a shot at doing at the NHL level.
Sbisa is getting better and is miles ahead of where he started this season.

I wonder who would have a better team? Surrey or Brampton? - Linden_4_Capt
You need to have solid leagues to build up the talent to play international level cricket... ie: county cricket in England ensures a steady supply of talent...
Looks like it is going to be quiet in here today. Has it finally happen? Have we finally ran out of random sh!t to discuss when it isn't a game day? - PetrolSexual
Just finished season 1 of Marco Polo last night. Now I need suggestions for my next foray into Nexflix. Suggestions?

Depends what you are in the mood for. House of Cards is crazy good. If you want something a little less intense then firefly or fringe are pretty good. And if you want something way less intense, they have all the Trailer Park Boys episodes.
