So you are basically saying there is no way to call the game per the rules. If so, that means things are simply broken.
- Emperor Filonius

I think there should be IIHF rules (they are more sensible than NHL imo) tempered by opportunity cost. There are pretty well established rules of engagement in the playoffs; even so, a penalty will be called if the defending player follows the established ROE if it costs the attacking player a scoring chance. I think the referees are in a position where they are being asked to call more penalties and can't quite get it right between the two of them.

I'm not familiar with IIHF rules, but there is no way that NHL players can be expected to follow the current rulebook to the letter for an entire 60-minute game unless they play so tentatively as to make the game very unappealing.

You mean like anyone in politics right?
- znagle

Not necessarily. I think he would consider himself a Reverend before considering himself an activist, journalist, and a (failed) politician. Not everyone has the same dismissal of shame to have tried to incorporate all of the above.

How can Jet Li and Keanu reeves both the "The One?" And where does the "The can be only one" in Highlander play into this all?

Yeah, certainly. I think the penalty spike after the lockout was a gimmick. I only have an issue with the officiating these days if I think the ref was thinking, "Geez, I had better call something here, it's been a while. Then I have to look for a make-up call later. I better make sure I tell the other guy".

Jet Li will kick Keanu's ass. He couldn't even handle Gary Oldman.

Differences between NHL and IIHF Rule book. It's worth taking a look at.

No BB went before, he had a good move but when he shot it was nowhere near the net. Downie went before Hornqvist and who everyone here wanted in Pouliot.

Why? Did you see Beau's attempt? It was laughable, hes a waste of a Pens sweater. Adams has more to bring than BB at this point.

If you eliminate all the heavy duty Kevlar, people are less likely to want to pack the middle of the ice in the defensive zone like they do now. Part of the issue with the game today is every shot has to find its way through a forest of legs, sticks, and torsos to even get to the net. Still obviously wear enough to protect players, but not so much that it doesn't sting a good bit to block a shot.

I agree completely..this wins for me today
