Fine let him walk , bring back Higgins next year and his 10 goals , just don't complain next year when we suck again with crappy players.
- VANTEL

Somebody has to get guys the puck. Assists are very important as well. Higgins has more pts then Mathias. That's not a coincidence. He does every yr.

Higgins has more pts then Mathias , is a far supiorior defense player, is a leader as per our gm and makes 2.5 mill and Vantel wants him gone so he can have Mathias at 3.5
Did I cover everything?

- Bieksa#3

Higgins takes so much poop on here it is ridiculous. I am fine with moving him but it isn't because I think he sucks. He is a better player than Matthias

Let me name other UFAs that did fairly well for their cup of coffee time here in Vancouver. Torres , Santorelli , Ehrhoff are a couple that come to mind where the fans here weekly whine about bringing them back. Why did they leave? Because we didn't want to pay them their value.

You don't know that Matthias won't score again next year. He produced for us at the end of last year. What do you have to base your facts on.

He did what was asked of him , you pay him his worth. If he doesn't hot 20 next year then it is a short contract anyways

Sorry, couldn't help it but I just had to say that, if that's not the most ironic (and a tad hypocritical) statement I've seen from you, I don't know what is And yes, we are talking about the Sedins/Burrows

He hasn't done it once though and how in god's name is it relevant that Tanev has never scored 20 goals I suppose Sidney Crosby doesn't deserve what he makes because he has 0 NHL shutouts

Yeah that's what I meant

Both are true bottom six players, I honestly feel like Matthias is a bit of a late bloomer, that said, Matthias plays wing or center and he's only 27 years old...thus I'd rather keep him over Higgins seven days a week.

I'm not denying that. But 3.5 mill? Personally I don't really want either back.

According to War On Ice, Adj SV% based on shot difficulty, Eddie Lack is #4 in the League:

#1 Carey Price
#2 Cory Schneider
#3 Marc-Andre Fluery
#4 Eddie Lack
#5 Corey Crawford
#6 Devan Dubynik

#24 Roberto Luongo
#29 Ryan Miller

For the same price, I'd probably keep Matthias for those reasons as well as to shake up the team a bit more. Higgins is a better player though IMO

Wow MAF... Surprised to see him there. Crawford too, always felt they were both pretty damn average

once again underscores my thoughts on the Miller signing (which I felt was a mistake right from the beginning)

Hoping that is the case if he is back next season.

We are a soft team to play against and I really want to see more physical play with speed on the fore check. If it isn't physical, then at least I want the fore check.

When we had Kenins hitting and in on the fore check it seemed infectious.

When we are hemmed into our own end and the other team is cycling the puck, I want to see some hits to break up the cycle and opposing puck possession. Dear I say Biega was a welcome call up for his little stint?

I wish Matthias was a bit grittier, but at least he has the speed.

I don't think people would be so down on Higgins if he was playing in the bottom 6. I'd rather see Matthias on the perceived 2nd line over Higgins.

Tanev is an important piece to our team, but if a player like Boychuk became available, I'd be asking Chris who?

This is interesting. I think what this shows is how different teams play in front of a different goalie

3-2 Ducks . Kessler fights Dorsett
- VANTEL

Kessler a Kessler hat trick - a goal, assist, and unsportsmanlike diving penalty.

Yikes.... So a bottom six fwd is worth the same as a top 3 defender to you?
