No they really are stats go look them up - VANTEL
How do you rank the following stats when you evaluate a d-man?
1. Level of competition/matchups they get
2. Points
3. Hits
4. Blocks
5. Fights
6. Grabbing a guy after a whistle
7. Goals against rate/ratio
8. Scoring chance differential when on the ice
I'm curious. Others are free to answer as well. Rank them all though.

I'll keep the bet on Ehlers beating MDC next year - VANTEL
That's fine. So you do think boychuck is getting a lot more then 5m |

All you've done is name call. What is it that he does that makes him better. He doesn't get pts. - Bieksa#3
Look this should make you understand.
The last three years before this one he has put up over 0.4 ppg on a Ken Hitchcock team. Shoots way more, can carry the puck up the ice and enter the zone and is larger and more physical. He is also way way more durable.
As far as being a possession driver... I dunno look at the advanced stats. but that one stat alone is all they might have in common which makes for a horrible comparison... and give your head a shake is not an insult unless you are a little too sensitive. I will lay off with the dumb comments just don't get your perspective. |

Those aren't really stats, come on man. If I looked at every Canuck d-mans stats, including hits, age shot blocks, points, competition they face, and goals against when on the ice then yes I would say make sure you keep the guy with Tanev's numbers above the rest of them. - Nucker101
I agree. And no one has mentioned that the guy is a shot-blocking machine, which is HUGE for a defenseman, as it cuts down quality scoring chances. I think he's in the top 15 for that (131 so far). That's a huge number and an asset to any team. I feel this stat is more important than hits or offensive numbers for a d-man, as it takes away another team's opportunities in the defensive zone.
P.S. he is actually Top 10 if you consider blocked shots per game (he's played at least 10 games less than the top shot blockers) |

So .4 on a far supiorior team and Petrangelo is your partner. He makes 5.5 and you won't give Tanev 4. Do you understand what your arguing? Or are you trolling?
Boumeester was -33 in his last season and a half in cgy. Which is a comparable to Tanev team the last 2 yrs |

How do you rank the following stats when you evaluate a d-man?
1. Level of competition/matchups they get
3. Points
4. Hits
5. Blocks
7. Fights
8. Grabbing a guy after a whistle
6. Goals against rate/ratio - assuming this is plus/minus?
2. Scoring chance differential when on the ice
I'm curious. Others are free to answer as well. Rank them all though.

8=1
7=2
1=3
2=4
3&4 = 5&6 both useful yet misleading
5=7
6=8

I know where you are going with this. Biega came in and faced some pretty tough teams and did very well also. Same as any other call up and can play that role.
I would spend my money on D to a point producer first . Less for a big hitter or fighter. And mid range to the guys that play like Hamhuis Tanev

Really depends on the defenceman, the list would be different for Willie Mitchell and Drew Doughty. As you know. |

Thank you sir. While I do agree Tim Burtons best days are far behind him, His stuff from the 80's was exceptional. |

Those aren't the best numbers of JB's career.... those are the last few on a DEFENSIVE TEAM... He put up way better numbers when he played on a bad team in Florida. JB was a Team Canada Dman... you can't compare a guy having a horrible season that makes more and is older, to an RFA with a max of 64 games played in a season on pace for 3 goals with top line minutes. Anyways you keep comparing pinapples to Oranges and I will go back to more interesting conversations.

He did at times. He also had tons of hits, didn't screw up. That type of safe D is not that hard to play . That is why almost every team has that type of player , and very few have a Vantenen or Doughty |
