Sounds like no Higgins again tonight.

He's not skating with the team this morning.

Interesting stat I just read at CA. (http://canucksarmy.com/20...atthias-just-scores-goals)

Canucks have 4 players in the top 90 goal scoring per 60min 5v5 since 2011, and none of them are named Sedin.

31. Vrbata no surprise there, Iginla, Carter, St. Louis in that range.

41. Matthias a bit surprising, Duchene, Hossa, Hall, Parise in that range.

74. Higgins no comment, Getzlaf, Giroux, Doan, Oshie, Semin in that range

86. Hansen very surprising IMO, Marleau, Stepan, Williams, Stastny in that range

Full list here if anyone is interested

I think that answers the Sedin question.

Little article on McCann

http://www.theprovince.co...keeps/10871579/story.html

- LeftCoaster

Interesting read, I did find it a bit contradictory from the piece about him after being drafted where the ex GM is interviewed.

In this article the coach talks about how McCann needs to work on his defensive game and in the article last year the GM talks about how good McCann is defensively and that while his offensive numbers are low he has the skills to be better.

Regardless McCann has taken some very encouraging steps this year, hopefully he can put some more weight on.

For sure PP has always been a big part of their game, but I would never of guessed that Hansen or Higgins were better 5v5 goal scorers during that stretch.

The only time i've seen him play in the OHL. He showed a high hockey IQ and positional play but I think his defensive work in his own zone was a bit shaky. My guess is that next year he gets the same role as Horvat has this year. As long as he adds 5-10 lbs and can win a face-off.

I have doubts he is able to jump right in, remember Horvat is the first guy since the Sedins I believe to make the jump following his draft +1. Very few players (other than all oiler and top end prospects) make the NHL that quickly.

Edit. Did the Sedin's play their first year after being drafted or did they go back to modo for 1 year? I seem to remember them playing 1 more year in modo.....

Just double checked, their first season in NHL was 2000-2001 season, Stefan (1st overall) played in 99-00 so they did return to modo for 1 season.

Stefan has to be the worst 1st overall pick ever.

Yep, looking at that draft year the Sedin's are clearly the class of the 1st round early picks. Zettersberg was a late pick and could be argued the better player. What really stands out to me is that for being such wussies they are head and shoulders above any other player drafted that year for games played.

. Adam Clendening:

Does the return of Chris Tanev mean that Adam Clendening will be the odd man out on the blueline? The real question is: did anyone notice that Clendening was playing in the first place?

this is number 18 on the canucks army blog for today.

Trying to sort through tonight's lineup in the new blog:

Tanev + Corrado in, Weber and Clendening out.

Higgins out again. Bonino likely in. Kenins???

Clendening hasnt been great defensively. But if you look at our Defenses offensive numbers. Its hard to want to take him out of the line-up IMHO.

Our defensive numbers are dreadful....

He's been a play driver according to his Corsi, but the eye test hasn't done him any favours. He's got a awkward stride, and seems to take the long route when he's turned around by a quick attacker.
