(frank) I want the Leafs to win the lottery.
It changes everything

- senstroll

I keep having these recurring fantasies where I'm wasted, dancing in the streets with tears in my eyes that we've won the lottery.

(frank)ing. McDavid. Hell. Yes.

Drinking barley wine and cheering for the Leafs to lose, this is what it's come to. (frank)ing cat sniffed at my McDonald's fries and I didn't stop him because he doesn't touch anything that's not good quality meat, not even cat treats. (frank)ing bumhole steals a fry and runs off with it, munches it down like it was the finest tuna. Then comes back, gets another one. Wtf, I think he might be high.

I think your right. If a team (eg Arizona) said they were ready to deal the 3rd pick and they were prepared to take back a big salary......how many teams would make an offer? Heck I saw an article yesterday saying the Sharks should deal Couture for a top 10 pick. The only way you get a top 5 is to offer up another good first round pick and a player. Edmonton, for example, might deal the 3rd pick for the 6th plus Bernier.

6th and Bernier for the 3rd overall?

Your way off base. MCDavid plays on a team that has a bunch of 17 year olds as their best players. He is the real deal. Poll after poll has scouts saying he is a generational player. It is crazy to discount the importance of the players in this draft.
- spatso

There seems to be a lot of generational players. I guess this means McDavid is going to score 100+ points for the Sabres next year just like Crosby did or score 50+ like Ovechkin did.

Maybe not if it's the sabers. But remember oveckin had and extra year because of the lockout. Age makes a big difference

You have to compare their stats at the same age
McDavid is in Crosby territory

- senstroll

McDavid got into the OHL using the rule they invented for Tavares. Tavares, at a younger age, was scoring 60-70 goals. Tavares had 215 goals and 433 points in 247 games in the OHL and broke Gretzky records for goals by a 16 year old or something like that.

The Penguin team that Crosby did it on was atrocious too. I think this term of generational talent gets thrown around way too much. If everybody two years there is a generational talent, it defeats the purpose of the term.

For an unproven, 25 year old, unproven goalie.

What's Tavares' PPG vs McDavid's PPG?

Tavares is such a great player.

I agree it's used too much.
I see Gretzky lemieux lindros and Crosby. .. Now probably McDavid.

Someone that comes along every 10-15 years

If Gretzky is the benchmark, then how come he hasn't come close to what Gretzky has done.

Would it be that amusing if it was 3rd overall for Bernier and 5th overall?

Leafs grab Strome, Arizona takes Domi's linemate Marner, Oilers grab Hanifin (who they wanted anyways)

I am assuming a Canes/Jackets/any other team not in the top 3 lottery win

Unproven? WhAT? How is he unproven. We all know he's the best on the Leafs. And considering what team is in front of him...something something (frank) it's tiring.

That article about Jagr convinced me he's a generational player at the highest echelon of all-time players, and I never would have said that before. I didn't realize how impressive his body of work is at this point.

Tavares had 2 seasons of exactly 2ppg. Conner is at 2.68 this season.
I think McDavid will be a touch better than Tavares, but a good comparable nonetheless.

Yes. Yes it would be amusing. Oilers know the leafs want one of the centre's. There's no guarantee they'll be there at 5 or 6. It's gonna take a hell of a lot more than Bernier to jump up to the top 3. Bernier is mediocre at best on a bad leafs team. What makes u think he's gonna be any better on a worse than the leafs oilers squad?

Considering OV is on pace to be in the top-15 in goals scored of all time, he's probably in that list. Let alone that he has been one of the best power forwards for a decade and never broken down...yet.

no doubt he's good but I mean proven as in #1 goalie, 60+ games, can carry a team, not many softies. Someone like Price or Quick, because if you want 3rd overall in this draft, it'll have to be for someone like that...

I don't know, I just think they are not gonna pass on Hanifin if they draft 3rd-5th.
They have used top 3 picks to get Centers (RNH,Draisaitl) Wingers (Hall and Yak)
in the last 5 years. I think they will pick the guy that can form a 1-2 with Nurse in a few years

The funniest would be if the Leafs won the lottery and took McDavid, and he totally Daigled it up with a twist of Yashin. That would be a classic episode of Leafs.
