Was he really a generational talent or just a really good prospect that got hyped to the moon so people would give a poop about the draft? I'm not saying McDavid isn't a great prospect but he's not a generational talent either. He's what the Leafs need but he's not Sidney Crosby or Stamkos or even Tavares.

Also, I was talking about acquiring another top 5 pick so that doesn't automatically mean 1st overall. It could be 3rd or 4th, which is what Kessel should be able to get you in return.

Mcdavid is having a better season then Tavaras and Stamkos both did. The kid is legit, he skates around like its shinny out there.

Tavares broke Gretzky records, let's relax. Tavares had seasons where he scored 60 and 70 goals in the OHL, 120, 130 point seasons.

i think someone needs a crash course on how hard it is to acquire top 3-5 picks.

never mind 2 of them in the deepest (same) draft in years

pipe dream, and not in the least bit attainable.

- Lee Denault

I think your right. If a team (eg Arizona) said they were ready to deal the 3rd pick and they were prepared to take back a big salary......how many teams would make an offer? Heck I saw an article yesterday saying the Sharks should deal Couture for a top 10 pick. The only way you get a top 5 is to offer up another good first round pick and a player. Edmonton, for example, might deal the 3rd pick for the 6th plus Bernier.

the only way you will get a first is if the leafs trade theirs. trade up \trade down scenario. getting another one out right is a pipedream

Eichel is setting draft eligible records that go back to Paul Kariya. I mean come on...overrated? (frank) off.

Your way off base. MCDavid plays on a team that has a bunch of 17 year olds as their best players. He is the real deal. Poll after poll has scouts saying he is a generational player. It is crazy to discount the importance of the players in this draft.

You have to compare their stats at the same age
McDavid is in Crosby territory

Spooky to think, but I have seen MCDavid take shifts and you would think it was Crosby the way he accelerates, pulls opposing players towards him and finds the open man.

Not to mention McDavid missed like 20 games or something.

And after back reading through this thread I must say some of you were at your best. People will need to find ways to keep themselves entertained over the next few seasons when the team sucks miserably. At least it will suck miserably for a purpose.

Drinking barley wine and cheering for the Leafs to lose, this is what it's come to. (frank)ing cat sniffed at my McDonald's fries and I didn't stop him because he doesn't touch anything that's not good quality meat, not even cat treats. (frank)ing bumhole steals a fry and runs off with it, munches it down like it was the finest tuna. Then comes back, gets another one. Wtf, I think he might be high.
