No way. Buffalo - McDavid, Edmonton - Hanifin, Arizona - Eichel and then one of Strome or Marner will be there at 5th, maybe even 6th if somebody bites on Crouse. |

So if it goes McD, Eichel, Strome, Marner who would you take? Hanifin for the safe D bet, or take a gamble on someone like Rantonen? |

I think Arizona is going to tank harder than Edmonton and Edmonton is going to take Hanifin 3rd. If Hanifin drops like that, probably take him. Been a long time since the Leafs had an impressive blueline.
Then again, you could take Rantonen and pick Andersson with Nashville's 1st rounder. That's a hell of a gamble though.
But they should really move up or acquire another top pick. This is their chance to grab one of McDavid, Strome and Marner, if not two of three. Leafs have the assets to make it happen. |

Hanifin - orienbrady22
Great ..Just what the Leafs need a 4-5 d-man |

I just do not see any team giving up a top 5 pick in a trade in this draft. Best case scenario is they add another first for a Dion/Phil trade right at the draft. But I don't think it'll be that high. |

Yup, our blueline would look great with Rielly, Hanifin, Percy, Valiev etc. If they can somehow get two top ten picks I would be (frank)ing ecstatic |

Kessel and JVR are two guaranteed 30 goal scorers with excellent chemistry together, one guy might hit 40 and the other has a sweet contract. If that can't get you at least one top 5 pick, what will? Not every team out there can afford to suck forever. Some teams feel they need immediate impact (right or wrong) just like the Leafs did when they acquired Kessel in the first place. |

I just worry this particular draft and the teams involved might not want to give up the pick.
Yes, both those players are worth a lot. |

This only happens, if the Oil can pass Arizona.....so Leafs? Lets contribute to this scenario, by losing to the Oil in a couple of weeks.

Dallas would be a great team to target. They have great forwards, cap space with Horcoff coming off the books, and currently are in position to have a top ten pick |

If Carolina stays' 4th, they take a Defenseman, over a centre at 4, due to the Staal's being 1 and 2 on their depth chart.

If the Leafs have to pick 6th or 7th, I'd consider moving down in the draft, to 10 or 11 and get an asset, then see if Rantonen is still available. It looks like the top 5 are pretty much set in stone, looking at the needs of most of these teams.

Not necessarily, Carolina just might move those guys and start blowing it up. I could see them moving the Staal brothers to New York. |
