That's why I'd avoid it. Go bargain hunting after the first week.

Unless a player like Parise is available, this is exactly what I'd do. Sometimes th best option is to just wait.

Is Lack starting tonight?
- LeftCoaster

I think everyone here knows the answer to that even without the coach even confirming.

I think they both have value, just both overpaid. Higgins by .5-1 million and Burrows by 1-1.5 million.

I like your idea of trading for a bad contract and getting something to boot

Thought maybe he'd give Markstrom a second chance, just haven't found anything online.

Yeah, either that or taking on a decent contract that a team just can't afford. Getting it cheap.

I'm not sure against the Sharks again is a good idea.

Higgins has value IMO. Especially to teams who value possession drivers.
- Nucker101

Everyone talks about Higins on the PK and that helps them justify his salary. Matthias too plays the PK

Against the team that blew him out, I doubt it.

Matthias is on pace for 30 points, Higgins for 40 while going long spans of time without a goal and taking a (frank)load of flack. Just sayin'... Argument can be made that it's because he gets so many minutes but 40 points from a guy who gets treated on her like he is an AHL player

The best way to know if a movie is good or not , wait until Dave Pratt gives his opinion . If he says it sucks go see it , it is a blockbuster. If he says he likes it stay clear.

Or just kill Dave Pratt and watch whatever the (frank) you want to watch. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad because killing Pratt will make you happy forever

You can either play or you can't, if you've gotta put him in against the worst teams then what's the point of having him? Send him down...

Plenty of Canuck fans want those 2 gone. Doesn't mean it's okay to overpay others though. I do think Matthias is more of a 15 goal guy most years and I'd say Burrows has extra value as a good agitator, better defensively and net presence. He creates goals and doesn't even get credited with a point sometimes. Higgins sucks offensively now no doubt, but still great defensively and Matthias will make more than him.

Obviously I'd take Matthias at 3.5M over Burrows at 4.5 or Higgins at 2.5.

- Nucker101

Mathias hasn't shown the consistency over his career that Burrows has, so to pay him based on the one career year would be a typical managerial mistake which we see time and time again.

With respect to Burrows, as you pointed out, it's not just about points. He often creates room for others and is generally a pain in the ass to play against, an agitator with good hands and hockey sense, one of the better options to play with the Sedins. And like you said, often he doesn't even get an assist on a play which he basicallly created through his hustle and taking abuse in front of the net.

Fehr is not going to take 2 million - he is in his late 20's and is going to command a much higher salary after his fairly decent production over the years (much of it due to playing with Ovie and Backstrom on occasion - I don't think he'll ever pan out to be a 25+ goal scorer. That said, if he could be signed for minimum that would be a great option, but highly unlikely

He has been given 2 nd line minutes all year and Pp time. He should have better numbers.

This is why we are on the bottom side the standings because Higgins and Burrows are top 6 .

We need speed skill and toughness , not two aging players as top 6

Good post, but I wouldn't want to sign a bottom 6 player and take a roster spot from a kid

You totally skewed your on pace for numbers to favor your point.

I'll take 16 goals and 8 assists over 8 goals (most empty net) 21 assists any day of the week and twice on Saturday.
