Jets have arguably the best prospect list in hockey...they could be a force in a year or two... - LordHumungous
Yup, great position to be in. If only they were a more desirable location for players then they'd really be set. But yeah, great group of players/prospects under 25. |

Bring up Gaunce Jensen as our 3 Rd line? If we were going in the McDavid sweeps we are a year late. - VANTEL
We got to many players now. And I did mention trade for a bad contract rather then sign one.
2 great kids one and two next yr. Jacob Chykerun (remember Jeff his dad?) And Austin Mathews
What about Sven and jmac? |

There's a Finnish kid who's supposed to be really good as well. One of the youngest players at the WJHC this year. |

But we don't want to pay Matthias 3 -3.5 so I suggest a cheaper signing of a similar player Ferh , but it seems some people get offended by that and would rather keep Higgins and his 7 goals and 2.5 contract. - VANTEL
We won't get Fehr for much cheaper. He'll save money just by signing for a pile less in Washington, even save more money in Fla. |

I'd pay 3M, 3.5M would be tough. His agent is well aware this UFA class sucks so he'll tell the Canucks that even 3.5M is a nice discount. I think Benning/Gilman would have to really work just to bring him down to 3.5M. - Nucker101
They will need to do a lot of work. Aside from Vrbata I don't see another 20 goal scorer next year. I don't understand how a team that struggles to score refuses to pay one of their two 20 goal scorers 3.5 .
Let's say it is a career year, and he scores 14 next year. This year Burrows has 12 goals at 4.5 and 5 goals last year. Everyone is on board. Higgins at 2.5 has 7 goals.
They have a combined average of 3.5 mil and an average this year of 9.5 goals .
We have no problem paying that but we have a problem of paying a younger bigger guy with better numbers the same? I don't get it sorry |

Just because you have 2 un-tradable contracts doesn't mean you should go out and sign a slightly better un-tradable 3rd one. |

Plenty of Canuck fans want those 2 gone. Doesn't mean it's okay to overpay others though. I do think Matthias is more of a 15 goal guy most years and I'd say Burrows has extra value as a good agitator, better defensively and net presence. He creates goals and doesn't even get credited with a point sometimes. Higgins sucks offensively now no doubt, but still great defensively and Matthias will make more than him.
Obviously I'd take Matthias at 3.5M over Burrows at 4.5 or Higgins at 2.5. |

Higgins has value IMO. Especially to teams who value possession drivers. |

This is what I am saying , sign Matthias roll the dice. Move Higgins and Burrows for picks and if you can get Fehr at 2 mil as a third liner instead of Higgins , then do it. |

Because his deal was expiring. There's tons of value in that. I bet if he was signed to another year or two at 3.5 there would have been much, much less interest. |

Benning came out and said after his TDL interview no one asked about Higgins. It is on that interview towards the end of the presser. |

I think they both have value, just both overpaid. Higgins by .5-1 million and Burrows by 1-1.5 million. |

Yep. Last tdl Dion was probably worth a 1st and prospect on an expiring deal.
Reports are that the deal with Detroit was a 1st and Weiss (yuck contract) for Neon, plus Detroit wanted Toronto to retain 2 mill per |
