Naw I'm happy with Tanev and Hamhuis 95% of the time. I'm only happy with maybe 50% of this total roster. There's a reason why we only pick and choose which games to play. Once this core is gone, hopefully that attitude goes with them. - I-own_da-Northwest
The core has it's games. After seeing the last few, i like what Burrows has been bringing. Higgins, Bieska, Kassian can go at the draft. Not too sure anymore if Matthias deserves to be resigned. Sbisa brings a bit a toughness I think what most are wanting on the backend but he's still not the fighter type. Maybe Pedan gets his shot next year. We saw Benning and the changes he made in his first season, we can all probably expect the same again this off season. and KENINS needs to come back. |

Our two most reliable Dmen Hamhuis and Tanev biggest claim to fame is they don't get caught out of position too often.
Our most offensive D man has 17 PTs this year and 22 last year.
We don't really have a guy to lay the big body check .
We don't really have a guy that will fight if someone runs the goalie.
The 95 % that are happy with this core, should really take another look. - VANTEL
I think they may be happy because of lowered expectations.
We have many Jack of all trades players but not really all trades, because they are missing a lot of the physical side and finish. The nice thing about Tanev and Hamhuis is they take the hit to make to make the play.
I guess I am agreeing, lacking finish, fight and hitting.
Higgins may have been missed on the pp last night, nowhere else.
I liked the line of Matthias/Bonino/Vrbata.
Good morning. and feck dst. |

I do agree with this.
Hamhuis and Tanev are very decent reliable Dmen. They don't bring the Extras , but the won't cost you the game either.
I do find it hard to put a price on that. I do believe Ken Hollands words that you don't pay big money for Dmen that don't score, and there is Tanev - VANTEL
He's talking Doughty, Subban, Weber range of money. That's nothing close to what Tanev will get.
Defence next year
Edler - Tanev
Hamhuis- Clenedening
Sbisa - Pedan.
Corrado.
I'd be okay if it looked something like that. |

This is how I look at it too. We have many Jack of all trades no specialists. JOAT Dmen are easily replaceable , and big money should not be thrown at them.
Again I like Tanev if he was the only DMan at 4 mil plus on the roster , I would not be speaking up, but we have 4 of them if you include Hamhuis Edler and Bieksa |

No one will be paid that type of money.
Canucks D men are all interchangeable and no one should think they are not. They are not specialists.
Hamhuis was out of line up for six weeks, the team did not miss a beat.
Does anyone really notice that Bieksa is injured?
Edler and Tanev out of the lineup for a few weeks, we beat Boston NYI NYR Chi Pitt and we lose to NJ and Buffalo. This is pretty well the same thing that we have been doing for years, so it doesn't really matter if one or two of our core Dmen play or not.
Again Jack of all trades no specialists |

I know Linden said hes not trading edler, Im hoping thats a lie, when he was injured didnt wish to get him back, just to get rid of weber. and im sure his return would be great. |

I have some questions about the salary cap, but I think ideally 2 dmen in the 4 mil range and the rest at a lower hit is best. And hopefully somewhere along the way we pick up (draft/trade/ufa) that pmd we lack. Not sure if that is possible, but I do like the folding arms and twitching the nose or am I combining the genie and bewitched.
Really, this is another huge summer for the organization. So many rfa's on d. And decisions to be made in the forward group, do they resign Matthias?
What will the other teams be looking to do? Will they feel the cap pinch? Is there any way we can pick up a player or two from a cap strapped team like how we previously picked up Ehrhoff?
I liked the idea of Benning picking up players further along in their development like the Clendening for Forsling trade, but once these guys are with the big club, they ain't being sent down, waivers, so if they can't carry the load, we may be in the draft lottery next season. Was that why Benning was saying next years draft is supposed to be pretty deep too? |

I would go Pedan-Tanev or Clendenning-Pedan or Pedan-Corrado.... Well basically the point I'm trying to make is Weber & possibly Stanton shouldn't be here & if we could trade Edler for a top 6, Even better.
Hammer
Tanev
Sbisa
Bieksa
Clendenning
Corrado
Stanton/Pedan

Edler's 17th in the league for TOI/GP.
For all the grief he gets that's not easily replaced.

I will just leave it at if Tanev is being signed for 4 Mil one of the other high priced Dmen should be moved .
Biega has shown he can step in and we are all hoping Pedan is a new addition next year.

This Tanev conversation is hilarious, I see people female doging that he isn't worth 4 million but then see sbisa penciled in the mock line ups. Sbisa is guaranteed 3+ next year if he plays for us......but Tanev isn't worth 4.
Also pedan is not going to be ready, he is still very raw.
IMO the top 4 is set, all the RFA dmen should offered 2 way contracts, if some don't take it not a big deal. Clendening, beiga, Corrado have shown some good things but haven't proven they deserve guaranteed minutes. Weber, Stanton might are going to be depth guys at best. Sbisa isn't going to be able to play well enough for his pay grade.

And it was a good win, came back from being down a couple goals.
I almost went and did some family stuff, but hung in there like the team. |
