Hansen is a decent fighter. He use to fight more until he broke his hand in a fight.

Hansen is definitely a nice combo of speed/grit/hockey sense. Not the biggest guy, but not soft.

I think the point that I am trying to make is that if the guy is good enough to play with two of the best players in the world he should be ble to crack our lineup.

I am not a huge Fehr fan, don't get me wrong but with this UFA roster he may be one of the few bargains to go after. That's all.

He is no where near Simmonds or Nino.

Just because he hasn't had a huge profile, managers know what he is nonetheless, and that is an inconsistent utility player who can pot 15+ goals for you playing with some good linemates. He is nearing thirty and has never shown any sort of consistency, even though he's had plenty of opportunity to be a staple on that line (including power play time). He just hasn't come through. He'll score 5 goals in 10 games and then not score for the next 10 games.

Basically, teams will typically over-value him and pay much more than the market would usually dictate for such a type of player. And I don't want that to be us

I confess I'm not quite sure how I feel about that either. Once again we are looking at a player that has really never panned out, but who is having a very good 'career' type season. I suppose $3 million wouldn't break the bank, but I don't want the Canucks to fork out big coin only to have the player revert to his usual style of play statistically and performance wise. You are gambling that this year's new and better 'Mathias' (who has now been in the league 8 years, however) will suddenly start to perform consistently, playing like he has this year, in terms of going forward. At this stage in his carreer, and based on his unremarkable historical data, it's not like a player can suddenly reinvent themselves to be the next 'Crosby' etc
