I don't think they can beat the Sharks (again), especially without Kenins. They're going to need more speed, not less tonight. Maybe someone will get hurt in the pre-game skate |

I think that it depends on what your expectations are going in. I will never enjoy a Transformer movie, for example, unless it's brilliant, because I assume that it is going to be sh!t going in.
Not everything has to be groundbreaking high brow thought provoking masterpieces. Actual original stories, whether they are books or films, are rare and becoming rarer with every original story told. I love when I see something smart or original, but in general, I will (and usually do) settle for well made, or well written, or well told. - CubanBuffet
Hands down the best Transformers movie was the original.
1986, starring Orson Welles, Leonard Nimoy, Judd Nelson, Robert Stack, Eric Idle and Casey Kasem. |

We watched the Birdman last night , and I have to admit , I don't get the hype. This was best picture last year? I am sorry but it wasn't even the best picture I seen this week.
I found it slow paced, not realistic, and boring. The Peter Pan ending didn't even really fit the movie IMO .
I think movie awards have become pretentious . The less people understand about what is going on in a movie they label as artsy and slap it with a dozen nominations.it is ok people to say it sucks and you don't get it. Don't make poor slobs like me waste my money on boring sh1t.
I give the movie a rating of 4 Limp Diicks |

If the Chinese controlled Hollywood and mass produced propaganda to fit their own agenda... the West would freak.... funny how it works isnt it?

I also wonder how the US would react to a film with the central premise of Obama's assassination

Seriously though I just think there is a seriously lack of films that are made that are Oscar-worthy. Mostly it is as you said the artsy films because the alternatives are generally franchises or super-hero movies. The kind of blockbuster that used to come out and win the Oscars is gone because Hollywood is in such a formulaic state right now that very few high budget films are of the type that used to come out. Argo is probably one of the few recent films that had a decent budget/theatre presence that also ticked the boxes for Oscar consideration. Same with Black Swan. (frank)ed up movie |

Haven't seen Birdman yet...will probably throw it in tonight when we are down 2-0 or 3-0 to San Jose early in the game...
I did watch Big Hero 6 the other night with my niece and that movie was very well done I thought. Good for adults and kids. |

Avatar is another example of a blatant and terrible attempt at "subtle" allegory. South park said it best when they called it "Dances with Smurfs." That aside, I simply found Avatar to be more entertaining and visually appealing
Edit: Also saw Avatar high, thought it was the best movie I'd ever seen - bezz44
While breaking ground in CGI Avatar was one tough movie to get through...Dances with Wolves in space just a brutal typical hollywood storyline. But expected from that clown Cameron.

so, thanks for this tweet,

Record vs non playoff teams: 0-4-1
Record vs playoff teams: 9-3-0
Just trying to get my head around this quote from Henrik in IM's van sun article,
"For us, mentally, it was a matter of not respecting their lineup. That was the biggest thing."
I'm just trying to understand the identity and motivation of this team. Do they not remember missing the playoffs last year or is all the blame on Torts?
Not sure how they aren't ready to play teams that are lower in the standings. These games should be considered opportunities to get their pp going and really shine. - hillbillydeluxe
If that's the reason the entire team played like an ECHL team, then the issue is a lot worse than a lack of skilled players....this speaks to leadership. Leadership that prepares the team to go out and put out the best performance every game.
It doesn't matter to me that Arizona is a bottom feeder, they are still an NHL team, with NHL players wanting to play for positions and pride.
My son told me before the SCF run that he didn't think H. Sedin has the necessary skill to captain a team to the SC, back then I chuckled as he and Daniel were the best duo in the NHL, but lately even with both regaining their form, Hank is not captain material. |
