I don't see the D spots being as contested. - Whiskey-Tango
I think Tanev and Bieksa are 80% lock unless trade talks or contract talks over rule.
Let's pencil in Hamhuis Edler and Tanev. Spots 3-7 to be filled by Bieksa Weber Clendenning Stanton Pedan Sbisa or Free Agent.
Lots of competition |

If Bieksa is still here he will be on the roster. Only spots open are 5/6 if Hamhuis, Edler, Tanev, Bieksa are around. Though I think Sbisa could possibly beat out Bieksa for the #4 spot. You also forgot Corrado |

I was saying something similar. I don't know if JB will bring back both Bieksa and Tanev. I think it is either/ or. I see Benning wanting draft picks.

I just can't see Bieksa being traded much as I'd like that. And I hope that Tanev isn't. I think the top 4 stays as is for another year or so |

Well i doubt Vey is going everywhere, he was brought in for real good willie, and sure he has bad plays but for a first full season he isnt that bad of player. I cant see richardson having a spot, wouldnt suprise me if sven and jensen beat out higgins hansen |

If Jensen fails to make the roster next year i think its time he's added to "the package".
Not much progress/development on his end. |

McCann will be here before Jensen.
Higgins and KB will be back judging from bennings comments.
I'd say with kenins in the mix dorsett or burrows is gone. Hansen will be gone |

Hansen to Winnipeg and Burrows to Montreal. Dorsett will stay. Kenins will stay. Tough call on McCann before Jensen. Higgins and Bieksa will probably be here as well. |

The producer phoned me at ten and wanted to do an interview with me.
I said sure what the hell.
had the discussion over the phone. picked up my tickets the Matt and Blake asked me to come up, throw on the head phones and sit threw a segemnt.
For someone like myself who really wanted to become a sports journalist/ Broadcaster out of high school but never did.
Im not going to lie I was in my element.
unfortunately my father called me after about 10 minutes and I had to get out of the and resume normal life.
This last week has been a gongshow regarding that radio station. But today was pretty damn cool. - vancity787

I dont think kenins will be here, hes doing good now but if hes competing against Jensen, shink, sven and most importantly virtanen for a spot i couldnt see him beating all them out. |

Jensen and Virtanen are natural RW. It's really Baertschi and Shinkaruk that he's battling against for one of the remaining 3 LW spots (after Daniel as 1LW). He's already got a head start over Shinkaruk.
Unless his performance nose dives I think it's a decent bet that Baertschi will be our 2LW next season with Kenins grabbing 3LW. |

Apart from maybe Virtanen due to his size and tenacity, none of those listed players will be able to cut it long term in the bottom six, where-as Kennins has already proved his merit.
Plus, Shink has yet to even prove himself in the AHL, he might need another year or two.
Jensen is stagnating. Gaunce has been out competing him game in game out on the wing, and he is in a bottom six role... |

Given his lost year of development in 2013-14, I can Shinkaruk taking a more Detroit-style development path - seasoning in the AHL for a few years before getting a more serious look in 2 or 3 years. He's still only 20.
What's up with Jensen anyway? At on point this season he had 17 pts in 27 games with Comets which is respectable for a 21 year old. Has he just started falling down the pecking order? |

One thing I've learned about what GMs say to the media (apart from the fact that it can be total BS) is that what they state can only be seen as valid at the time that they state it. For whatever Benning says now, I wouldn't pigeon hole him into keeping the same mindset in the summer. If some of the young guys make a serious claim to a roster spot on the big club I'd be surprised if Higgins were still here in October. |

Agree with Higgins/KB but i doubt they move Hansen.
My guess Kassian cools down the stretch and he is moved for younger lower end propect. Richardson gets his walking papers, Matthias is resigned and Dorsett walks to go back to CLB. Vey is resigned, Kenins sticks with the team leaving 1 spot open for a prospect on the 4th line.
I just don't think this team will move on from Higgins/Hansen/Burrows when they are playing well and the team is making the playoffs.
