Theres an 80% chance the sabres dont win the lottery, the idea of tanking for one specific player is pretty stupid imo. - Bigzby
They're tanking for a chance at McEichel, if they finish last they'll get one of the two. That's all they need. |

id be happy with 1 or 2
3-5 are not bad by any means but the 1-2 is always the best every year.
especially this year. |

= $ in the bank for the NHL
leafs supporting 1/3 of the league each year has some merit
not that i think that will be part of the rigging process but if the league owes any teams its the leafs, habs and rangers the way i see it as they keep all the other franchises in the mix.
which is a joke, imagine mcdonalds had to help pay for A&W to stay afloat? - Lucas Neilson
what was the stat....70% of the leagues revenues come from those 3 teams?

For the Leafs and the Sabres.
But mostly the Sabres.
That team is going to be really (frank)ing good in like 3 years. Like cup contender good.

It's how countries run. It's how businesses all over the world run. Why would this be any different?
More markets mean more potential customers. You can't really compare the success of a team that's been around for 20 years vs a team that's been around for 100. 100 years is a long damn time to set up a strong customer base.

Especially since they want the lottery to be held for the top three picks next season, so the last place team could conceivably fall to 4. |

So, just out of curiosity, if you have those 3 teams generating that much of the revenue, why would you worry about any of them? Wouldn't you focus instead on making your other branches profitable instead of trying to squeeze more out of your flagships?

out of the original 6, why are 3 of them not as successful financially as the other 3? What's Chicago, Detroit and Boston's excuse? |

Well when you go forward with Sam Reinhart and one of Mcdavid or Eichel as your top 2 centers... I'd say you're going in the right direction indeed.
Kinda like the Flames with Monahan and Bennett. |

The one I work for right now. We have an unprofitable branch in a new-ish market. Do you just let it die, or do you focus efforts on making it actually work properly while not doing any actual harm to your other branches? |

LOL on what basis?
That McDavid Jersey sales will single handedly pay for the Coyotes next couple years?
or that the centennial All-Star game in Toronto with C McD as the shining star will garner the most revenue of any All-Star weekend in NHL history?
Or that it really doesnt matter if the other teams sell 500 more tickets here or there, when they will still be using the Leafs, Habs and Rangers as a crutch.
Increased revenue in Toronto with Connor McDavid>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Any other lottery team in the NHL.
best for business - TheThrill
those jerseys are going to be sold regardless of whether they say McDavid or Kessel or Nylander or whatever. the "added jersey revenue" is a complete myth.
