I'd rather see Manning called up than suffer through a game of Coliacovo trying to play hockey. |

You're right, I'm sure the ~17,000 fans tonight are hoping to see their favorite team get smoked 18-0. That would make them all happy. |

Remember how great people thought this signing was and Manning had a pretty solid game just one night before? |

It was sarcasm, I'd think Carlo gets the first crack. If the Phantoms have a playoff shot they probably won't bring up Manning and hurt those chances.
Besides now you only get 4 call ups for the rest of the year, you don't just waste them if they aren't needed |

Only took 3 comments to get back to the draft position argument.

Thanks Bill. That last D pairing has me worried. Colaiacovo hasn't had much ice time this season, and may take a while to warm up. McD hasn't lived up to expectations, and was probably the last big contract the Flyers make for a while.
It will be interesting to see if the Flyers keep Gudas, and if he works out for the team. Even though, he doesn't have Coby's size, at least he has a little bite to him, and doesn't like to give up ice space. Hopefully, he can clear the crease as well. It drives me nuts when the Flyers can't clear the crease, and just watch the other team skate around at will. I'd keep Manning in the background if MacD starts to wilt again.
It will be an interesting game to watch. Either we get blown out, or we have a tight checking game; my prediction.
Mase, stick with it buddy. I don't know if you are 100% yet, but you are a trooper for going in for Zepp when you did. Sorry, about the 30-40 shots against each night. |

They're currently 9 points out of a playoff spot and have 5 teams to jump over to get the final spot. I don't think it's in their cards this season.
And I'm on the belief that Manning should be called up for the rest of the season as your #6, or at least the 6/7 swing man. |

If Grossmann will miss more than just tonight, I can see him or somebody being called up but if not I see him staying with the Phantoms for now. |

My memory may be fuzzy, but I don't think many people thought it was a "great" signing. |

I was assuming Grossmann's out for a number of games. Still, I'd rather have him as our #7 over Carlo if Grossmann's healthy. |

not many at all.. in fact, a lot of people thought it was a weird move. Guy hadnt played, was always hurt. It was intriguing, but dont remember anyone even saying it was a good signing let a lone a great one. |

I have no problem if the Flyers lose, but the team and players should go into every game hoping to win and trying their best. That's all I ask.
Apparently, I'm a bad fan for that. |

I'd be fine with that but they will probably wait till after tonight to see how Grossmann feels before making a move.

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 3/3/15 vs. CGY - bmeltzer
Bill, care to speculate, or should I say, I am interested in knowing what you think the Flyers were trying to do approaching deadline. Were they trying to package Vinny to get him out of here and teams wanted us to eat too much salary? Was Read a bargaining chip? Was anyone inquiring about Umburger (one could only hope)?
Talk to me Bill! |
