A month or so ago I would've been fine with this deal, can't lie, was a bit disappointed in the return with the premium on dmen on this deadline. Oh well. |

i think if it ends up being a second and a third it's good value. Petry is a second pairing Dman on an expiring contract. not sure how much more Edmonton could have gotten. |

Rishaug says oilers made Petry an offer of 4 years 4 mill per. Judging by deals for guys like Brodie and Gardiner there could have been a little added and it could have been done. He said no and didn't even counter. Bye bye. |

I think MTL wins the deal
It's just the price you see being paid is all that distorts things. |

He had zero interest in staying unless it was a gross overpayment, which screws them down the road. It was the right call. |

Maybe...., a 2nd aint too bad....people are still female doging because St.L used our 2nd in the Perron trade to get a good player. |

not sure. i really don't know anything about Petry... my assumption is that he'll fit in better in Montreal than he did in Edmonton, meaning that he'll likely be asked to carry a lesser load. |

Why do you assume that LA liked Petry as much as Sekeras? Chicago like Petry and his zero playoff games as much as the cheaper, more experienced Timmonen?
If someone really wanted Petry they would have made an offer that reflected that. |

They only flat out win this deal if they are able to resign him or go deep into the playoffs. If not its really a good move on both sides, Oilers got good pieces for an expiring contract.
1st, and 2nd...thats a good start to a trade to get a Dman under contract from a team in Cap hell |

Its not low. Its in the ball park. He should be making 4.25-4.5 max. That puts him in the top 60 paid dmen in the league. |

Well, we've seen 2nd's used as nice currency at the draft, so we have two now. Maybe we can make a deal for a player. |

Good skater. Decent puck handler. Not overly physical. Streaky point producer. Gets caught staring at the play sometimes. Im assuming a more defensively adept team will see him caught out of position less. Has a really stupid face. |
