I don't doubt Schultz's potential but I take Fayne (right now) on pairing two any day of the week over Schultz. Without looking at chemistry which fair enough is developing with Klef and Schultz (in easy minutes).

Fayne has been quiet lately but he makes smart moves with the puck and is quite dependable when teams are attacking. Does the extra effort with the stick to poke the puck away.

Regardless of what Fayne is, Schultz is NOT a top 4 defender yet. Ideally he gets easy minutes and powerplay time. Look at the opponents he plays, they are much worse than the opponents Fayne plays.

If you play Schultz the same minutes he was getting at the start of the year, you're making team susceptible for losing. He was a contributing factor on countless goals against.

Play Schultz lots of minutes ---> go down early in game ---> play schultz more to catch up ----> lose

I really do hope he becomes a top 4 guy, because we need it.

Klefbom has found an offensive element to his game and schultz has been playing better in his own end. Still a long way to go but those two have played their best hockey while being paired together.

I'm not a Shultz lover or hater. Just like Petry. I can see them for what they are. And some of you just are blind.

I've looked at qualcomp. In much better forms.

And its expected in their roles that Fayne is a shut down guy and Shultz is a puck mover.

Mac T mismanaged this asset their is no doubt of that, but the return we got for Petry was solid. I have not watched Zidlicky this year but in general, especially for a playoff run, I feel he is a much better player than Petry. They only got a second for him, and potentially only a third if Detriot does not make the playoffs.

Cap wise they have already committed to two top 4 right d-men in Schultz and Fayne. Keeping Petry really was not plausible moving forward. Lets just hope Schultz can up his game. He looked great against St Louis and has been better since Nelson took over.
