forget waiting on klefbom and nurse and praying they become what we want.
bang! franchise defender overnight.
anything those two and marincin do after that is just gravy.
i gotta stop thinking about this. its not happening - Ihateallofu
Nope.
I'm sure there are plans though. Matt won't admit it but these guys think forward and have many options planned out. We'll see what the draft, summer and UFA day bring us. |

it could be a bunch of things.
but this could certainly be one of em.
franson is more of an offensive guy first, so its possible Nashville wanted that more than the skills petry had. what did they give for him anyway?
they probably do with sekera.
could also be mact was pricing himself out of the market and it got even tougher as suitors started to diminish.
but this seems kinda unlikely as its hard to belive that mact asked for far more that what la gave for sekera - Ihateallofu
Its all speculation. In the end, Petry is gone and we have two more picks. Take it as it is or complain. Only two choices. I'll choose the former. |

I think the NHL (now that Petry will have eastern exposure) will see Petry as a solid #3 on a good team like Montreal. Easier conference, more of a skating style, much more suited for Petry. They will talk about how we got fleeced IMO in the summer especially if Petry resigns and/or montreal goes deep.
Even if he doesn't resign in MTL, they will still say we lost... IMO |

So I'm now hoping Montreal wins the first two rounds and gets crushed in the Eastern final. Pittsburgh they can just lose. |

Here's to Crosby and Malkin sitting out the rest of the season and Fleury falling off his elite play. MISS THE PLAYOFFS PENS! |

Thing is though that if they win a couple rounds the 5th gets better but the 2nd gets worse. I'd rather a higher second and a 5th than a low second and a third.

I'm moving on, just discussing is all. I said already on page one of the threat that a month or two ago this return would be fine but now I was a bit disappointed based on other returns in the market. Ain't gonna cry about it, just hopefully Mac T uses those picks for NHL bodies with all these cap stricken teams |

I don't expect the trolls to come out and congratulate us for many things!!
good post though. behind subban and markov now, he is a much more suitable position.
a deep run--petry was a big part of it--u got fleeced.

so how does that order work exactly?
they go out in the first round-whats the draft position? - Ihateallofu
At the conclusion of the regular season, the 14 NHL teams not qualifying for the playoffs are entered in a weighted lottery to determine the initial draft picks in the first round, seeded according to regular season standing. The 30th-place team has the best chance of winning the lottery (20%) while the 29th-place team has an 13.5% chance of winning, with odds diminishing to a 1% chance for the 17th-place team. A single selection from the lottery pool is made, with the winning team improving its draft position to the number 1 spot, and no team dropping more than one place.
The remaining order is determined by the Stanley Cup playoff results.[7] Whichever team wins the Stanley Cup is awarded the 30th and last pick, while the runner-up is given the 29th pick. The teams eliminated in the conference finals are awarded the 28th and 27th picks, with the 28th pick going to the team with the better regular season record. Remaining division winners are then sorted by points, then the rest of the field are ranked next, filling in the 26th through 15th picks. In both cases, better records result in later picks.[6] |

I'd rather a 20 ish pick than 28th in the second round.
Second round has an exponentially higher probability of being an impact player. |

people see my posts as tireless mact defending. and that's fine I suppose. they can say what they like.
and while I do think hes an intelligent gm, its really not that.
its the defence of logic, facts and wanting to make sure people see the causes and solutions aren't nearly as simple as easy to identify as many of us wish they were.
your posts says it all really.
we've all beat the petry situation to death, but he wanted out.
but now that we dealt him people will take the original annoyance and project that onto the mediocre return mact got.
its the best offer he got. we could debate some fantastical wizard moves maybe he could've done, but at the end of the day this si the best offer hes gotten thus far. and he had to take it |
