Winnick. Unless said team was the Hawks with a stacked roster. If it was Niemi, the Sharks wouldn't be battling for a playoff spot. Neither are going to win you games on their own, but one can sure lose you a game on his own.

Niemi can't steal a game on his own?

You're acting like winning the Stanley Cup is an easy feat for any goalie? Like you could put a traffic cone in net and win the Cup?

When it came down to crunch time in the playoffs, over 4 playoff series, Niemi was one of the greatest goaltenders in the world.

- rangerdanger94

You brought it up. Don't get mad bro
Hawks would have kept him if he was that great, like they keep their actual great players.

Not sure why people around here are so eager to be rid of Bernier. He is only 26 years old. He can be the goalie for the rebuild and beyond. Definitely don't sell him now when his value is at an all time low
- mycokes

I don't want to see him moved for nothing, but there has been a lot of talk about Bernier (Not on HB) wondering if he is a legit #1.

We will see what Shanny thinks with either a trade or the term of his contract.

They couldn't keep him. They got rid of a lot of great players. Brouwer, Byfuglien, Campbell, Ladd to name a few.

his stats in the 2010 cup win were .910 save percentage and a 2.63
best goaltender in the world?

None are great, all are pretty good. Toews is great. Seabrook is great. Those names are not. The reason why the Hawks won again.without them. They kept the great ones.

The Sharks are a bad hockey team. You make it seem like Niemi is the sole reason they're outside a playoff seed right now.

Bernier flaws:

Too many soft goals
Too many early goals
Wants 5m+ long term deal
Thinks Mandela is hockey hero

He was better than any other goaltender he faced in the playoffs, yes.

It looks like Edmonton will be drafting at #3 anyway, what with Arizona doing a complete free fall.
- The Shrike

Anyone that finishes 2nd or low will most likely not get Eichel (unless draft is fixed).
Chances are about 1 in 3 that the top 2 teams land McDavid which means whomever finishes 2nd will have a 66% chance that they end up picking 3rd.

Only one guaranteed McD or Eichel is Buff.

Then why are they looking for a goalie if he isn't the problem?

Listen guy, I'm not making Niemi out to be a Hall of Fame GOAT goaltender or even top 5 in his position today. But he's a proven veteran goaltender who has won and performed well under pressure on good teams. Bernier has no winning history and has been a mediocre at best goaltender his entire career.

you keep saying he performed well... were saying he performed exceedingly average and only won because of the teams in front of him... until you bring up some actual fact to dispute this theres no point in going on

Think we have something with Arizona and NYR

I will say last night teams thought NYR were making a run at Yandle. We'll see

I don't think his value is low. I think a lot of teams look at Toronto and say there's one guy we gotta beat tonight. He would put up unreal stats behind a great team.

I'm hoping Arizona finishes 3rd last and takes Marner at #3 to reunite the trio of Domi, Dvorak and Marner from the Knights. Hanifin to the Leafs at 4
- PootieTang

If we had fourth and marner went 3rd, we'd take strome over hanifin.
