A starting goaltender that's won a Stanley Cup? The Blues traded Chris Stewart, Halak, a prospect, a 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick for Miller and Ott. Obviously Niemi isn't on the same level as Miller, but he's pretty close and should fetch a 1st on his own. - rangerdanger94
Niemi will never fetch a first.
31 years old about to be UFA whose been average at best behind a good team. Not worth much at all. |

miller is well above an beyond the goalie that niemi is... you just said 31 is a declining age in your argument for lupul which is the same age as niemi... he's only had 2 seasons over .920 most of his seasons are closer to a .910 which is not that great for a starter especially considering the teams he's played for |

Hertl is nothing like what he was last year. Also hasn't show too much. I wouldn't even expect the Leafs to keep him. I'd trade him too. Niemi is not worth that much guys, sorry. Plays behind a descent defense and his numbers are worse than Berniers at 5 years older. Like I said might be McGinn instead of Hertl for the Leafs shouldn't and won't just throw Lupul away for nothing. It's gunna take a good prospect and a 2nd. Winnik got that. Oft injured or not, if he did stay healthy adding Bernier and Lupul to that squad puts them up into the playoffs and can contend in the west. - iTOLDu
You act as if Lupul is what he was last year too? |

Are you actually comparing Niemi and Miller? If SJ wants Bernier instead of Niemi, obviously they value Bernier higher. |

You basically just described Vermette who fetched a good prospect and a 1st. A 32 year old UFA who is average on his best day. The difference is that when you look at supply and demand, there are many available UFA forwards, and only 1 Niemi. So wouldn't that make you think that Niemi, since the supply is so low, would be worth even more? |

I think you're a retard because I clearly said that Niemi and Miller aren't on the same level in the exact (frank)ing post you quoted. |

If Edmonton drafts 2, do you think you will draft Eichel? Or would the smarter move be to trade down to 3 in order to draft Hanifin?
Eichel is obviously a quality player but your issue continues to be defense. - rangerdanger94
Anyone who passes on Eichel should be instantly fired. He looked so impressive at the WJC. Big dominant center |

It looks like Edmonton will be drafting at #3 anyway, what with Arizona doing a complete free fall.

No goalies don't fetch much. Comparing Vermette to a tender is ridiculous as well. Goalies don't bring those "intangibles" per se. And Vermette is over rated imo. But they got the best deal for him. Niemi doesn't have great numbers, and has slowed down tremendously. He's truly not worth that much. Also playoff teams will prob roll with the tender that got them there. Very rare you see someone trade for a goalie to give them Cup hopes. Miller is an exception, not the rule. |

I coulda played net and won cup that year..you've proven nothing. Niemi is Reimer pretty much. Always played on great teams and he's on a damn good one now not getting it done. |

Obviously Crosby and Bozak aren't on the same level, but if Crosby would command your top 3 prospects and 4 first round picks, Bozak should command something similar |

Yea, except Hanifin wouldnt help our D for at least 3 years. By then we will have guys like Klefbom, Nurse, and to a lesser extent Marincin coming into their own. |

Who do you think would provide more of an impact and improve a team's chances of winning the Stanley Cup: Winnik or Niemi? |

I'm hoping Arizona finishes 3rd last and takes Marner at #3 to reunite the trio of Domi, Dvorak and Marner from the Knights. Hanifin to the Leafs at 4 |

Winnick. Unless said team was the Hawks with a stacked roster. If it was Niemi, the Sharks wouldn't be battling for a playoff spot. Neither are going to win you games on their own, but one can sure lose you a game on his own. |

You're acting like winning the Stanley Cup is an easy feat for any goalie? Like you could put a traffic cone in net and win the Cup?
When it came down to crunch time in the playoffs, over 4 playoff series, Niemi was one of the greatest goaltenders in the world. |

Not sure why people around here are so eager to be rid of Bernier. He is only 26 years old. He can be the goalie for the rebuild and beyond. Definitely don't sell him now when his value is at an all time low |
