Thought CHI/WAS woulda been the place for Lupul. Don't see the Bruins going for him, possibly the Blues do. Or maybe Sharks go for him and Bernier.

To SJS:Lupul,Bernier

To Tor: Niemi, Hertl, 2015 1st, 2016 2nd.

- iTOLDu

I would jump at Hertl.

whats retarded is getting rid of Dubnyk when he wasn't the problem
- jimi james

Yeah. He played great last year. Everyone but the Oilers could see those beachballs he let in were the D's fault.

Regardless...the difference between drafting 1st and 3rd is far greater that the worth of Bernier....so no deal.

Based on how serious they take all the other retarded trade proposals, probably not.

Niemi/1st for Bernier is reasonable.

Hertl/2nd in 2015 for Lups is reasonable.

I see no comedy.

More like Hertl for Lupul + 2nd

Bernier is not worth a 1st. More like a 2nd and a 3rd, if that. Let alone Niemi who on his own is worth a 1st.

He's UFA. So it would def take Niemi and a first.

Hertl isn't worth that, he really hasn't shown much this year. And he's already 24. Guess we could put McGinn in instead of Hertl but i wouldn't do less than that.

Lupul is injury prone and has likely peaked. He currently has 19 points in 35 games, good for .54 PPG. At age 31 and with all those injuries, he's not getting better. On top of that, he carries an expensive cap hit.

Hertl is only 24, getting better, is cheaper, players a more valuable position, and has .38 PPG this year. Lupul is obviously producing better, but that will likely not be the case within the next 2 or 3 years, if not sooner.

Niemi is worth a 1st as a rental. A quality goaltender who has already won the Stanley Cup.

No. Hertl is a high ceiling player on an ELC....nobody in their right mind would give him up for Lupol.Sorry. Nobody.
San Jose is probably gonna miss the playoffs....would you trade a top 15 pick and a 6% chance at McDSavid? No, you wouldnt, and neither will any non playoff team this year.

Sorry, bud, your expected returns for the oft injured and expensive Lupol and a Goalie your organization thinks little enough of to trade at such a young age is a little more than unreasonable......and I like Bernier.

Doesn't matter who Edmonton drafts 1 or 2, they are going to ruin him anyways.

Okay, but are you you even trying look at this from a Sharks perspective? No way they could feel good about making this trade durring a transitional period for them as well.

A starting goaltender that's won a Stanley Cup? The Blues traded Chris Stewart, Halak, a prospect, a 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick for Miller and Ott. Obviously Niemi isn't on the same level as Miller, but he's pretty close and should fetch a 1st on his own.

Hertl is nothing like what he was last year. Also hasn't show too much. I wouldn't even expect the Leafs to keep him. I'd trade him too. Niemi is not worth that much guys, sorry. Plays behind a descent defense and his numbers are worse than Berniers at 5 years older. Like I said might be McGinn instead of Hertl for the Leafs shouldn't and won't just throw Lupul away for nothing. It's gunna take a good prospect and a 2nd. Winnik got that. Oft injured or not, if he did stay healthy adding Bernier and Lupul to that squad puts them up into the playoffs and can contend in the west.

If Edmonton drafts 2, do you think you will draft Eichel? Or would the smarter move be to trade down to 3 in order to draft Hanifin?

Eichel is obviously a quality player but your issue continues to be defense.
