Thanks Bill. MDZ is really making a case for himself. I just hope that the Flyers don't miss the opportunity to sign him; for a few years, and not the next twenty..lol.
It was an odd injury to Grossmann last night. From the 15 angles that were shown on NBC, it seemed to hit him in the upper back. I hope that he gets well soon, and doesn't have a head injury.
Sloppy play last night, and the Flyers were lucky that Mason was able to bail them out on several occasions. Players were letting Rangers get behind them, there was lazy passing, and the forwards did not always help the D out. On one series, I saw the forwards just watching the puck. On another, I saw a forward quit going after the puck once the Ranger had passed him up. I really don't know why the forwards are inconsistent with their play or not willing to go to the net. It would be interesting to count the number of shots on goal that were made without a Flyer in the crease. And Schenn is starting to drive me nuts. #10 can shoot a hole through a barn, but can't hit a barn door. His accuracy has a lot to be desired. Maybe he should work on shooting with Danny B, and try shooting at glass windows like the commercial that he made a while back.
Take the win guys, but work on your effort. Even if you did make it into the playoffs, with that type of effort, you won't go far. |

That's what I was trying to say.. Raffl could easily be a 20 plus goal guy. He does not get the PP time of Schenn. If he could just finish a little better his numbers would be great.
I think it's time to package the Schenn's up as a part of a deal for Dhelp - 3flyerkids
Gotcha. Your phrasing caused a hiccup in my brain.
Raffl has a pretty good shooting percentage - 3rd best while being #8 in shots taken - but I agree, for some of the looks he gets, burying a few more goals would be sweet. And I'd have him in front of the net on the 2nd PP ala Simmonds on the 1st. |

Raffl should be on the 2nd PP way before RJ Hamburglar. That is for sure. |

Speaking about Raffl, what about Read? He has less than 10 goals this season. Is he worth the pay raise that he received? I don't know if he took the season off or is blaming the "mystery" injury that he had earlier on. If you noticed, he picked up his play once the trade deadline starting coming up. I like his D play most nights, but his offense has taken a step back. I was hoping for maybe the 20 goal mark, but now I just hope that he breaks the into the double digits.
And, Coots has the same problem as Schenn does at hitting the barn door. However, I think he's just trying too hard, because of the pressure from Berube. |

I think Hexy has brought some relief to the fan base by making that kimmo deal. Now we are armed with a 2nd rounder this year and another solid pick next year. It would be nice to try and get another pick, but I'll understand if he decides to stand pat if the offers on grossman/coburn aren't to his liking.
It wouldn't surprise me if a hockey trade to shake up the forward mix is made but he time the draft is through |

No doubt. I give him RJ's, Vinny's or Read's spot and not worry about a drop off in effort or production. |

Gotta hope this season was an anomaly and not the new norm for Read. |

He picked up his play since his injury has healed.

Read, Raffl, B Schenn, and Couturier all have had a hard time " finishing" and I guess that is one of the reasons why we are where we are. I think we see one of B Schenn or Coots as part of a package for the MUCH needed blueline help. |

There is no rush to re-sign him. He will get his qualifying offer and then the two sides can decide whether there is a multi-yeqr deal to be made or if he signs another one year with the leverage of UFA status in 2016. Either which way, there is no need to rush into something. - bmeltzer
The Mason deal (3-years, ~$4.1M/per) seems fair for both sides. |

It's definitely complicated. Not much precedent for this situation |

Still can't believe NSH didn't QO him and he was left hanging out there for months... sometimes you wonder if the people calling the shots around the league have a (frank)ing clue at all. It often seems like just a lot of group think.

I wouldn't day no chance, but there is definitely no chance Couturier gets dealt before B Schenn. |

Cobie played well enough last night that I almost didn't want him traded. - section32
Besides MDZ, Coburn is the one that I least want to see moved but if the right deal happens upon them I would go for it. They are going to need to try to unload a dman or two |

I wouldn't be surprised if it had more to do with his personality. He had 1 bad year on the ice. I think Nashville knew he wasn't going to develop with them because he clearly didn't want to be there. |

No, first they watched Luke Schenn for a few shifts, laughed, and then left. - BiggE
Sorry he is struggling but isn't much of a skater.
What is the main issue with LeCavalier? Too old or too undisciplined on playing a 200 foot game?
Good luck in playoffs. |

There is no mystery injury. His play is picking up simply because he is getting healthy.

There is simply no reason to pay Del Zotto that much next season.
