I think you're the first person to call that the "Myers" deal and not the "Kane" deal. |

I'm not saying Stralman is better than Yandle. I would much rather have Stralman, 2016 1st and Duclair than Boyle and Yandle though - PhillySportsGuy
Torts really wore Stralman down while they were there together. Glad to see he's recovering nicely.
As for the comparison -- I think Stralman's Matt Carle good. Yandle, is a really special player. |

He probably is, and he eats more minutes, but here are their hero charts for this year:
YANDLE:
STRALMAN:
this is usage adjusted.
So Stralman has been the much better chance suppressor, while Yandle has considerably more points/60. Considering the rest of the rangers D, I'd say they don't need a defenseman to eat a lot of minutes, but rather a defenseman who performs beyond his usage. Someone who performs like a top pairing guy in the 17-18 mins he does get. That's Stralman this year. They just gave top assets for a Stralman replacement. - JAKEw1234
Of course Stralman's the better chance suppressor -- are you kidding me?
Look at the two rosters -- their top two centers were Vermette and Hanzal, and Hanzal's missed most of the season with a back injury.
Those numbers aren't generated in a vacuum -- you're telling me that you think Stralman puts up Yandle's numbers in Phoenix?
Don't tell me you believe that

Good lord.
Luke Schenn was brutal last night. That feeble backhand turnover was a joke.
Only negative that and the Grossman injury. Flyers played a solid game last night. Mason was great. MDZ played a hell of a game. - PLindbergh31
Nothing like having a Rangers 1st round pick score the GWG goal against them. It's beautiful being on the good end of that instead of having Sharp/Williams/JVR/Maroon/whoever doing it to us. |

He has played a hell of season imo.
Now they just have to be smart about an extension. He's had one good season here but been largely inconsistent in years past. Hopefully they don't get too excited and rash.
I'd be in for a 1 year deal. 2 max. |

You're right about that. Arizona is last in GA/GP, and Tampa is 15th. Yandle is the better dman, but for the amount of time they need a Dman to play, Stralman would be much more than sufficient. Yandle is just overkill, assuming they aren't making another move. |

They'd be smart to move Girardi. His flavor of the month status is just about up. |

In this market, gotta believe Hexy can get a 1st rounder and a decent prospect for Coburn. However, I wonder if he's more interested trying to attach Vinny or Umberger with Coburn and getting a lower pick back. It's going to be an interesting Monday that is for sure. |

Depeends on the cap hit for an extended deal. If he gets a 1 or 2 year deal than he'll be a UFA, which doesn't help us. I guess we'd just have to deal with it, cause you can't hand out a massive deal after 1 good season. |

Even though the price is really high this year, he should wait. Coburn is still too essential for our D, and will be for the next couple years at least. Move one of Grossmann or Schenn now. |

Smartest thing Slats ever did was not let Ryan Callahan sucker him into overpaying, then not being afraid to let Anton Stralman walk
Not only did they make the Cup final without Callahan, that cash is coming in handy - AllInForFlyers
They didn't save any cash in the Callahan deal, they took on St. Louis in the deal.

2 years max. I am really happy at how he has played but this organization should know first hand about giving out longer contracts that players don't live up to.
I'd rather take the risk of losing him to UFA, instead of stuck with another bad deal. |

I can't disagree with your thinking, I just believe Hexy might have to get creative to move the contracts of either Umberger or Vinny out. I think he signs MDZ to deal which will take him to UFA status.

Of course the former, but I'm not sure Stralman would be the player he is today if he was still in NY. Like Carle in his 1st stint in TB. |

Umberger's looked a lot better. Not enough to warrant his pay, but enough to make it somewhat bearable. Vinny should get moved, though. Maybe Edmonton will take him with a Dman. |

I disagree with comparing Stralman to Yandle, mainly because Stralman, while good, is a third-pairing player on a good team
There's a reason why Tampa's looking for a defenseman
Yandle drives play. He's a better player than Stralman, I feel - AllInForFlyers
Stralman is better then a 3rd pair player on any team. While Yandle is certainly a better offensive player, Stralman is better all around.

man the east is going to be wild this year.
Rags are looking very, very tough now. hard to not like this from a win now perspective. - stayinthefnnet
The rags' highest pick n 2013 was a 3rd rounder (Duclair). The following season, their highest pick was a 2nd rounder.
The Marty St. Louis deal leaves the without a first round pick this year, and they traded away their 2nd this year as well in the Yandle deal. They get a 2nd rounder, though, if Callahan re-signs with TB before March 5th. Don't really see that happening though.
They're also without their 2nd round pick next season because of the Yandle trade.
If I'm a Rangers fan I'm starting to get concerned

Long term cash, MJL...long term
Can't extend Yandle if you are paying Callahan in 2019...which they will not be doing, nor will they be paying St.Louis |

Hedman has been back for a while. Stralman is still playing high minutes.
