Good signing for the isles I hate that they're making smart choices
- dbell646

By giving Leddy $5.5 mil they may have drove Boychuks asking price up.

Non-sequitur:

Edmonton, Alberta is considering flooding an 11km route for residents to commute through the city on skates.

FREAKING AWESOME!!!

That is pretty cool. As much as I hate the cold in the winter, I would enjoy the crap out of something like that. I would definitely skate to work if given the option.

IDK, EDM is a cold on a whole new level. As cool as it sounds, EDM is absolutely freezing. There is a reason why nobody wants to play there.

The weather, the 812k population... the West Edmonton Mall.. There are worse places in the world to be a young Millionaire but the combination of the environment and what the fans expect from the team is just too much. And the dismal look about MacT these days...

It's not THAT bad. But I live in Saskatchewan so my frame of reference is maybe a bit skewed compared to yours.

It sure would be wonderful for sleeping. I love sleeping in the cold. My wife is pissed at me right now because I have been sleeping with the window open all winter. I did agree to leave it shut the night it was -9, lol.

Yeah but when you have a wife and kids, your decision isnt completely yours. Tie that in with the Canadian tax structure, it makes living in the US much more attractive. Also, the cost of living in EDM and CGY is outrageous. Housing prices will blow your mind.

Penguins should be sellers.

When 87 & 71 produce multiple points, Pittsburgh can win a hockey game. The team can look good against St. Louis and Florida.

When 87 &71 don't do all of the goal creating, the team is exposed for what it is; shallow, undisciplined, and one dimensional. See: recent losses to Columbus, Detroit. DC.

87 & 71 either combine to average 4ppg in the playoffs or the team loses the game. The rest of the team may as well be young and cheap while the brass look toward a more promising future roster.

We are what, 4 points out of the top of the standings in our division and you think we should be sellers? Thank god you arent our GM.

Well no Presidents trophy this year and we only have 2 Hart candidates, a Norris Candidate and a Vezina Candidate. Not good enough, lets blow it all up.

Not what it used to be. The low oil prices are causing the economy in Alberta to come to a crawl.

F that!

I read an atrical the other day of about 5 anonymous NHL agents. Basically said movement clauses are killing Canadian teams, pretty much no body wants to play there, and its almost a guarantee that EDM, CGY, PEG, and TOR are on everyones list.

Yeah I work in teh industry, we have an office in CGY. Were still pretty busy on the service side, but the operators and contractors are hurting bad. All predictions see a turn around by the end of the year.

Probably. And hopefully. I sell materials to a lot of companies that build trailers and buildings for oil camps and things have slowed down big time right now.

Swift Current.

Grew up on a farm about 40 minutes south of Swift Current called Cadillac. Home town of Mark Lamb.

twenty minute drive to the east is the home town of Patrick Marleau. 30 minutes south? Bryan Trottier. 30 minutes west? Hayley Wickenheiser and Brayden Coburn.

Nick Leddy is 23 years old!? God I thought he was the same age as Boychuck. Shows what I know I guess. It's not crazy to think Martin could get $7M in his next contract...depending on the term.

Not saying it has. Im saying we have a lot of promise for our team compared to a lot of other teams. You dont decide to be a seller and throw away any playoff hopes just because your team is in a slump and playing crappy for 1 month.
