Botteril is scouting CBJ and Sabres. You better hope he's scouting Letestu and not Stewart

Ugh, Stewart stinks

i think Wisniewski and Letestu could be decent-enough targets.

Getting a guy like Wisniewski would be a nice way to get a decent veteran dman for minimal risk (as in... not locking up paul martin into his age 37 season).

upgrading from sutter to letestu and upgrading scud/pouliot/bortuzzo to Wisniewski would be moves that would make sense.

just making the money work for this year would be tough...

Really?
At least with Stewart you have a big body who could end up regaining his scoring touch.
Buffalo is a dead zone, no one wants to be there right now, ask Ehrhoff how depressing its been on that team. Being traded to a cup contender lights a fire under everyone, Stewart comes in plays hard and pots a few goals, gets some confidence and purpose back and he could be a game breaker.
6'2 and 230lbs is BIG, and he isnt slow.

Infact I've kinda convinced myself that Stewart may be worth the risk. Buffalo may even take Sutter off our hands since they are pretty lacking at center.

Testube is more of a lateral move IMO.

And Toronto definitely shouldn't be getting a 2nd+ for Winnik.

I actually hope we sit tight now. Berg and Winnik were the only two people I wanted and Winnik will be overpriced. Everyone else will either be overpriced and add no (useful) grit or toughness, and the ones we can afford will just be pylons no better than our current 4th liners.

I like Lapierre, I notice him every game, he is going to be helpful in the playoffs. Sutter I dont like but Letestu is not an upgrade over him.

I'd rather just have Blackhole Sutter traded for future considerations and move Spaling to 3C than have him out there 18mins/game getting killed.

That's ridiculous. I know we had cap considerations but I get pissed when other teams get away with highway robbery like that.

Yet another interesting dynamic of trade deadline time. JR could be holding out all his chips for 1 player, trying to set 2 moves in motion... or whatever, and ultimately lose out on his target and all his plan Bs will be gone. Crazy time of year...

F'n Arcobello has 3 goals in 5 games with Arizona. WTF? Where was that while you were here?

I'm all for this. At this point, removing Flats from the equation is addition by subtraction. Move Spaling to 3C, move Downie back up to the third like he belongs, call up Rust. Sill still rots.

If they had even average goaltending all year, they would be in a playoff spot now. They'll probably get in if Dubnyk keeps playing this way.

JR better have something up his sleeve, because that bergenheim deal was a steal for minny. Exactly the bottom 6 player we need.
