Wait a minute didnt you say the only reason Rinne was good was because of the defensemen?
- Jeropotato

No, that is not what I said. I said that for his career his numbers are probably slightly inflated because he has always played for a strong defensive team.

I said he is overrated because before this season, he hadn't really had a great year for three seasons, is getting up in age and that people are looking at what he's done this season and assuming he can play at that level going forward, which is impossible.

It doesn't mean I hate him or am biased against him. It doesn't even mean I'm right, although I probably am. The whole "controversy" comes down to semantics. I said he's overrated, so people take that to mean that I said he sucks. Not the case.

Only makes him more deserving IMO.

Most versatile player in the NHL.

- Byfuglien Ate Me

Well that may well be true, but you can't seriously think a half/forward half/D can win the Best Defenseman Trophy.

how do you give this to Kopitar?!?! even if you include defense Nash wins. he is the only player in the top 12 of point scorers other than tavares to have any SH points... he actualy has 1 less SHG than PPGs(shows you how stupid the rangers are for putting him in front of the net on PP). If Nash doesnt win the MVP this year it means people havent watched him play. he is literally the best player in every zone for the rangers.

and if you want to consider line mates, i doubt most people would say Brassard and Zucc are great line mates. both are good, but Nash elevates their play tremendously.

End Rant.

High PDO, low Corsi, I am gonna have to take Doughty and Muzzin over Weber. The main reason Nashville is in first is because their goalie has stopped 95% of shots. Consider stopping 92% makes you the best goalie of all time, this is clearly too high and won't continue.

I like Weber, he's a fun player. He's not close to the Hart trophy, not in my opinion anyways. (See what I did there?)

- James_Tanner

How could you possibly take Muzzin over Weber? Toss all these stats out the window for a second and watch the games. Every game Weber is so dominant out on the ice its not even fair. He scores HUGE goals at key times and can do everything else all the top elite D in the league can do. He is a beast. No one wants to be out on the ice playing against him. LA has some big time forward depth and John Quick in net as well so it's not like Nashville is a way better team. Do I think Doughty is close? Absolutely they could be neck and neck for what both players do for they're teams, but I seriously think Weber has the edge.

Rinne has been huge for Nashville no question, but what happened when Rinne got injured? Nashville still continued to win with Carter Hutton in net. Nashville is in first place and LA is fighting for a bubble spot in the playoffs...

Weber 14 goals 42 points +21
Doughty 5 goals 35 points +5

I love Doughty but the season Weber is having is something special

I think between Byfuglien, Karlsen, Giordano and Weber. Top 4 at this point for me.

So your reasoning by naming Kopitar is his ability to play a 2 way game. You named all the great offensive points about Nash 5 on 5 but you decided not to credit him with the fact he plays on top PK and top PP lines. I think he also leads the league with SHG. His defensive game is great too.

Check out.......... war-on-ice.com

They have charts to compare guys too.

FYI....

Bergy has.....
One of the top Face off win %, and wins,
plays harder competition,
has fewer O-zone starts,
has a better points per 60 mins,
much better Corsi Rel,

Bergy should easily win the Selke this year.......so I'm not sure Kopitar will be in the Hart talk, at least as high.....

I like anze but he isn't Bergy!

Also check out his scoring chance differential on the same site, he's an amazing player. Should easily win the Selke.

Fair points all. In the end though, he's a winger who is shooting a crazy 18%.

I believe the massive Corsi difference (58 to 49) more than accounts for the seven points. I also think that along with Kadri, Muzzin is the most underappreciated player in the NHL.

I call BS> Kopitar as the best player in the NHL isn't even close to crazy or trolling for hits. It's a fair analysis and I stand by it.

Nash is shooting at 16.6% per NHL.com and OVi is at 13%... not crazy... take away Ovi's PPG and he has been average. i still dont understand why teams dont play WSH PP as a 4 v 3 and take ovi out of the play.

I have to agree with the Rangers fans (unfortunately), that team without Nash is nowhere near 2nd in the east. Maybe even out of the playoffs. The fact that they are doing that well with Lundquist out is unreal. I think OV or Kane are next but both have way more talent around them. Kopitar is the best forward on the 9th place team in the West. Nobody on losing teams win these awards, let's be realistic.

Muzzin is one of the most underpaid players in the league, but not a single GM in the league would take Muzzin over Weber... did you look at +/-??
