Keith Yandle is the best forward, duh. - batjester
I did some research and Crosby doesn't have overly strong possession stats. Despite being lauded as the "best" player in the NHL he is clearly overrated. |

Tanner......
The best way to put it is that there are players that are........MATTER and players that are ANTI-MATTER.
Seguin to Kopitar.
Or........as the joker put it players that are UNSTOPPABLE FORCES and players that are IMMOVABLE OBJECTS.
Crosby to Bergeron.
Whom is better, or most valuable over an 82 game season will always be the player that has stats that correlate to the random person picking up a stat sheet.........
Unless you KNOW HOCKEY........WATCH HOCKEY........and not just play it on an Xbox (wildly disappointed in NHL15 by the way!!!....So very Bad!)...
You can not appreciate the small minute things that you see these guys do......
Bergy, Kopitar, Backes, Kesler, Callahan, O'Reily, etc.......they will not have the HARD STATS to back them up....ever.
Corsi is as close as we have been so far to a WAR (wins above replacement) in the NHL........
But the guy with HRs and RBIs is allways going to win the MVP.
Wish you would have given more props to Toews and Bergy in your assessment.....especially since krejic and CHARA missed a quarter if the season. |

I love your take on Kopitar, I agree he should be appreciated more. I haven't watched enough of the other players mentioned to say who is better on a nightly basis but to me, who watches every second of every Kings game since 91' i will say, aside from great one he is the best to ever wear The Kings jersey. DD is a bad ass but he is not as elite as Kopitar. DD can play undisciplined at times (although he is a having his best year so far) Kopitar plays his heart out and rarely makes a mistake. He is the kings anchor |

Sorry, I like and respect you , but you're fundamentally wrong here. - James_Tanner
Screw the score, take the goalie off the ice and play 6 men the whole game so you can win the Corsi battle!! That is what counts at the end of the day. |

There will be no rewards going to any LA Kings this year so there you go. This is so extremely biased I'm amazed. Just because I'm a Blues fan doesn't mean i think that Shattenkirk will win the Norris and Tarasenko will win the the Richard, Art Ross, and Hart. This article is the equivalence of saying Dan Carcillo will win the Lady Byng. |

another example of why tanner is one of the worst writers out there, kopitar is not even close in any of the offensive stats, but oh look he has a good "corsi" must mean he's the best forward in hockey. i'm actually a little surprised he didn't say domi is the best nhl forward |

Tanner you have to write this popp just to get people mad. Kopitar is not the best forward. You know this all the stats show he is not. U do this just to create an argument. Grow up.
Kopitar is not even in the top 5 maybe not even top 10. |

Blake?......Meh...........Luc? some may argue that one. I'm not saying I agree that Kopitar is the best forward, I'm saying he is way better than people give him credit for. He has the most well rounded game of any player I've ever watched play. Ask any other Kings fan and they will agree and tell you about the intangables.......Gretzky calls him top three if not the best center in the league and look up what his team mates say about him. I wouldnt expect you to agree with me, you dont watch him play night in and night out.
Hopefully your team gets another shot at the Kings the post season and you can watch him skate through your D and knock off your offense.........He WILL make the highlight reel. |

How was his Corsi?
For the record, nobody ever looked better in purple and yellow than Marcel Dionne. Does that count for anything? |

Kopitar reminds me a lot of Hossa several years ago. Always near the discussion as one of the game's better players with underrated defensive game, but never wowed people outside their markets for "elite" offense. I know Kopi is very good, but always find myself wanting more from him on a consistent basis to entrench him among the game's very best players |

Except that if you read the thing - which you clearly didn't - you would see the justification at the bottom.
I said, roughly:
- Since there are approximately ten players with similar stats and two who are heads and tails above the competition when it comes to defense, why not favour defense over offense for once when it comes to Hart voting?
In choosing Kopitar you get a player who is close to the top scorers, but massively ahead of them in his overall game. Furthermore, if you factor in how well he has played - rather than just looking at misleading point totals - it becomes an even better choice.
To be honest, I could give a blank whether or not anyone disagrees with me, but it does make me sad that we live in a world where anyone who says anything you don't agree with is automatically an idiot. |

The issue is though you have counter argued that your opinion is the only sound one. I fundamentally disagree with your analysis and your conclusion, ESPECIALLY based on the fact that its mainly geared around statistiics and mathematical probabilities. Are you an idiot for that, of course not but when you draw a line in the sand and dare people to cross it (ESPECIALLY ON THIS SITE), people will take (and have) offense...
(not that you give a blank) |
