There is a little bit of a mob psychology going on there, kind of a piling on at a group level. As you have a lot of people thinking the same way, it validates the emotion and the attitude, so probably we feel a little bit ambivalent about humiliating people, however if everyone’s doing it, and it seems to be deserved, and the person did something that’s validated as outrageous, then OK! Let’s go for it.

True story: His cousin also offered me a sweet deal on a $14.7 Million online lotto I won in the United Arab Emerites because my email address was in a raffle or something. All I have to do at this point is email him back indicating my preference to help him get the money out of the country, and my willingness to keep this quiet. |
