plain and simple- 3 goals in 3 games is not the recipe for success. If you are an opposing team why would you have any fear in taking a penalty against the Pens. The power play looks like a scene from Hoosiers- too many passes. It's sad when as a fan you'd be thrilled for an ugly goal to be scored.

I think move those guys you can and get picks and/or younger players and then give Sundqvist and possibly Kapp a shot for a few days to give them some experience. This team is going nowhere in the playoffs and moving Malkin would ensure mediocrity for quite some time. He's the only star who seems willing to kick it to the next level and try to carry the team.

I really want your posts to have the "R"s made into "W"s like Barry's speech impediment from your av... Because it would make it being (frank)ing -11 out a bit more pleasant.

Sundqvist and Kap can not play until their seasons are over

So we're blaming the coach again? Seriously?

How about our captain score a goal every once in a while? Lets start there...

- 87_71_11_29

I've wanted a replacement since December. Uninspired players, questionable lineups, poor line combos, poor line placement...

Crosby's not fighting last night to inspire the team, he's fighting out of frustration. Why? Probably because they are mostly healthy and dead weight is still being thrown out there time and time again, and they still suck. Watch Sids post game interview last night and that sums pretty much everything up.

Oh, and Fweuwy for Henwick Wundqwist.

You can't evaluate your roster, system, and farm system without putting the entire lineup through adverse situations. Maybe if we used the regular season to evaluate this team in the past, instead of win at all cost mentality, this wouldn't feel so out of place.

We have nothing to prove in February.

Dude, half the team was hurt then... Pretty unfair to blame the head coach for the regulars on the team being flat when you have up 9 AHL players.

I'm tired of blaming everyone else for their failures and not including him. Seriously, after reading the content on these boards the past few years, no one is left other than 87 and the trainers. I'm tired of excuse-making for him. I used to do it too.

First is was the concussions. Then it was he was tired after the Olympics. Then it was his wrist. Then he had no wingers. Now he doesn't like playing with Horny.

Not solely blaming him for this slide. I'm just saying I'm not absolving him from blame anymore.

Coworker conversation just turned into... What if we had Crosby and Ovi instead of Crosby and Malkin with how the lotteries turned out?

Lets see.... We likely would still have Staal, but as our 2nd line center... and then, idk. Too much butterfly effect.

Yeah, I just 180'd this discussion

Btw...just between us...I'm loving this. This is what I was wishing for at the beginning of the year. Give me some adversity. Make this team fight to survive and realize they cant just go out there, skate around, and be given success.

I love that HCMJ is tinkering. I like that he split up 87 and 71 on the PP for at least a bit. He had the balls to try something. I like that DP is still playing, working through his mistakes. I like the line tinkering. That's what the regular season is for!! F another meaningless Metrosexual Title. Figure s*it out from Oct-Apr, win just enough to get in, know what works and what doesn't, and put it all together in April-June.

This team has needed some humble pie for along time now. I hope they keep losing and have to fight for that 8th WC spot. At that point, they either sink or swim.

It is time we start planning how to rig the lottery for McDavid, then trade Malkin for a king's ransom and just go all in with a new 2nd line center as a rookie?

Just a year ago at this time BOS and STL looked unstoppable and no one thought anything about LAK and NYR.

Your damn right. Trust the process. This team is winning a lot of battles but when they lose your mind highlights the bad and blocks out the good. A few more tinkering moves and they are poised to go on a run.

Also, Sid and Geno are not being worn out in Feb.... Feels nice to see them healthy and not playing 23 minutes a night.

It is hypocritical that so many dismiss regular season success when the Pens fail in the postseason and now want to make wholesale changes based on relative lack of regular season success. Last year two lower seeds made the SC finals and that seems completely lost on everyone.

At even strength (where playoff games are played since penalties are almost never called), the team is doing fine. Special teams and penalties are killing the team right now. They aren't scoring nearly as much as with Blysma but they aren't having complete defensive breakdowns and senseless back-and-forth action either. That stuff works in the regular season, it doesn't in the postseason. And yeah, Crosby and Malkin are playing less than they ever did with Bylsma. Who cares about regular season as long as they are in the postseason.

I find myself thinking about this sometimes. Could you imagine that first line? I feel those two could learn to play together in 10 years..
