I would hope that instead of Rutherford making Pouliot available he would instead consider taking offers on guys like Kunitz, Martin, and Sutter. Of course that's only if after another week we're still not looking like a team that can compete with the the rest of the Metro in the playoffs. I think setting us up better to win next year is no worse a gamble than trying to fix our current problems with rentals this year, but that's just me.

Sid hasn't scored in 23 of our games this season but averages 1.93 points in the games he scores. Wow! Also madden saying Rutherford looking at big trades with Edmonton and Carolina. Also said pouliot isn't untouchable anymore
- dbell646

If true that's disappointing IMO. He better kill it if he deals Pouliot.

I mean if you are looking to acquire some key players who would help you win, those two highly successful franchises would be the first place I'd start.

I'd be in favor of shipping Sutter to the Kings for Toffoli

how about sutter, martin, pouliot and kunitz for both staals? then get marc staal come free agency? hahahaha ludacris I know, and we obviously couldnt afford to do that either

I also realize it would take more than just that on our end and is a very unreasonable proposition for both sides hahaha

Just a coincidence then. Yawn. Hit me back with something real my lord

Downies awesome, I know more than you just accept it? I mean that's about all I can say. Don't need to look up stats and compare stanley cup winners when you know your right.

Brandon: Hey Uncle Daryl. How's it going?

Daryl: You learn to play hockey yet, twerp?

Brandon: Gah, why do you have to be so mean. (I imagine him being like Napoleon Dynamite)

You people want big trades and they all involve Sutter and Bennett. Two guys that equal a late draft pick and a good third liner. You have to give to get.

You realize that was YOUR CURRENT GENERAL MANAGER that made that deal, right?

No

The numbers allow you to look at what parts of your team are doing well and what parts are not.

Minny didn't panic and fire their coach who's system is doing well with this roster. They didn't make a rash trade to prop up their offense. They looked where they were bad and looked for a solution, did I think Duby would be? Hell no, but he's fixed the hole in that team.

As for LA most of us are looking at their struggles and saying the HAVE to acquire a D man to make the playoffs, thus teams can take someone from their roster to fix that issue.

Well its not their skaters that's losing them games. It's their goal tending. So they rude quick this year, he either comes good and they make the playoffs or he doesn't. But they don't go ahead and screw with a roster that is (frank)ing awesome for a quick fix in an area that is not a problem.

That is where the advanced stats help. You don't pick and chose what stats you use, workout what you think is valuable to win and use the quantifiable numbers to create a pool of assets to look at. Then narrow those down with the intangibles so you get mix you think is right to win.

The blind hate and unwillingness to use the numbers is either willful ignorance because people don't like being proven wrong, or its in the too hard basket.

Fleury is my favorite player, his advanced stats over his career show he is an average goalie prone to hot and cold streaks. Emotionally I'm stoked the Pens resigned him, contractually not so much, but it doesn't stop me enjoying watching him play.

So when people use advance stats to "find" the best fit player out there doesn't always work as many advance statisticians imply. Prime example actually provided by you is Dubnyk. No stats said he was going to be the answer (some will say he hasn't done enough to solidify himself as the answer).

All i am saying is people need to meet in the middle on things and not be so closed minded. Stats open up an entire realm of information that was never touched before but people that use it need to stop being condescending to anyone that doesn't agree with them. They are like the hipsters of the hockey world, no one is a fan.

this team needs a reshuffle. certainly not ready to give up on this year and I think this year still is up for the taking, but at the same time, if wouldnt be awful to make some moves with the short term in mind.

I dont think Sutter has a future here. I think Sundqvist is the guy for our 3rd line center spot in the future. Sutter's contract is up next year and I doubt the penguins will give him the raise he's looking for. move him somewhere for someone on the bottom 6.

After discussions close to Glencross situation I believe his list of teams he would accept a trade to is up 5-7. It was one

What do you think it takes to get Glencross out of Calgary?

I know Ryan showed that his possession numbers aren't great, but from my limited knowledge of stats, it looks like that outside of the players who are on the ice with the Giordano/Brodie pairing, just about everyone's numbers suck there.

I'd almost feel sorry for any team that gives Sutter a raise.

glencross is only getting older and slower, what we really need is komorov out of toronto, he would help our team immensely i think

The sad part is that it will happen. I just hope Pittsburgh is not the team to give it to him.

i'm kind of meh on sutter. i feel like his play right now doesnt reflect his overall play, but there is no doubt he has been awful lately.
