I never said anything about flips. I know thousands of catholics. And I'd say calling them clean freaks is equivalent to calling all German people, nazis

You guys got me thinking about Team Development Systems.
Can it really be that difficult to set up a development system that actually develops young players? With the amount of hockey knowledge out there you would think that putting a plan together wouldn't be very hard.
Let's see if we can come up with a plan ourselves (and we don't know poop).

I see several problems with this... see below...
1. the mgm't team depends on ownership not mucking about.
2. Team philosophy may be off, or changed without notice (aka MG after the defeat to the B's and then wanting to have the 'courage' to stay the course)
3. Overdrafting at one position might create logjams at that position so that it can be exploited to trade from a position of strength to bolster positions of weakness...
4. Pro club having good junior club relations can't hurt, no issues there.
5. Pro club develops good relationship with national team organizers (lobby like hell to get your rookies invited to camps) has problems since the national team organizers are usually a bunch of mooks from Ontario who don't give a shiite about the colonies such as BC... Pro club should tell the national team organizers to go frank themselves unless there is representation on the selection committee, $ spent in BC to develop talent, clear guidelines to dispute their selections or decisions about BC based players, and no pandering to any given region like southern ontario and quebec.
6. Pro club may try to position rookies on junior teams that have good reputations for teaching and development (and winning) - junior teams are a private enterprise - the Pro Club should just buy one and take care of its own assets.
7. Own your own minor league team - this is a given. no qualms here.
8. Pro club ensures that coaching staff at minor league shares same development philosophy and playing style as big club. see points 1 and 2 above.
9. Constant communication between rookies and pro club (keep everyone on the radar) - probably better to have proven veterans rooming with the rookies. though the new collective agreement screws up the program on this. probably a good idea to assign solid vets to mentor rookies in how to be a professional and conduct themselves during all team events, meetings, etc...
10. Set up camps and instructional sessions for developing players in off season - CBA won't allow this i believe. have to comply with the CBA. nothing stopping the veteran leadership from doing this on their own though. just give them the idea and any training materials or documentation to help them do this.
11. Let players develop in junior and minor league as long as possible without damaging psyche - this is part of points 1 and 2 above, and would form part of the team philosophy
12. When called up, place them in positions to succeed and a long enough leash to allow them to lean at the pro level and not just worry about making mistakes - this has to do with the coach's decisions, can't micro-manage the coach or you won't get any good coaches joining the team..

I don't really want him back. Higgins being gone gives Kenins a spot. Richy being gone gives McCann a spot. Mathias being gone leaves room for one of Gaunce, Jensen or a top 6 ufa. - Bieksa#3
Matthias is working his way into the top six based on his play and improvement over the past year... he'd be cheaper to sign and has the size, strength and skill to match up in the west conf. not to mention he drives to the net every chance he gets...
I disagree. When I first got my dog, I lived in an apartment in Downtown Vancouver. Now I live in a condo on White Beach. A dog doesn't need a yard; it just needs an owner that is willing to exercise them properly. Rain or Shine. Trust me, I have a Hungarian Vizsla which is one of them most energetic dogs out there. - PetrolSexual
If you are willing to put in the work then for sure it's doable, I think that it is just how I was brought up. We would walk the dogs everyday, but the rest of the time they would prefer being in the yard then being inside.
There used to be a German Shepard on the second floor in the building across from us that I would see on the balcony every day. The balcony was smaller then most kitchen tables and I never once saw it out for a walk. Brutal.
Edit:
Just googled Hungarian Vizsla, beautiful dog. We've always had mutts, usually so ugly they are cute.

ahhh that has to be the worst smell !!! every single cat house I walk into I can smell it - SMP8719
I've got a cat. Shes friendly, hardly ever meows, and the poop box is on my balcony. I don't have to walk her, she cleans herself, and if I want to go away for a couple nights I can leave a big bowl of food and water and she won't tear the house to shreds.

Outstanding band...one of the greats. That new album is excellent. - LordHumungous
Saw them live with Slayer. Crazy concert, insane fans, general admission on the floor, nowhere better to watch a concert than working your way up to the stage.
