If you're going to "stand up" for Letang and throw away the tied game... okay. Not what I'd do, but get it over with and actually do some damage out there.
Stupid in every sense of the word. |

Bottom line, if Ovi ever got hurt and was out three months, I wouldn't shed a tear. He might be a talent, but he is an absolute douche that is wreckless and doesn't take accountability. It's excuse after excuse for him. I have zero respect for him. I really want someone to club him hard so he can see how it feels on the other side. - Oneonta Penguin
I was waiting for someone to jump him, 2 hand him right to the jaw I don't care. Give him a taste of his own medicine. I would have no problem with Downie taking 6 games for that.
I found it awesome that Ovi was wearing a beer after that. |

whether ovi was going for the puck or not it was still a slash, he made contact directly with an ankle, that then caused him to trip, lose balance, and slam into the boards, warrented a minor but probably nothing more bc it was an unfortunate play, the bigger issue is that the penguins completely lost their cool, and instead of someone doing something to ovechkin about it they let him pass, meanwhile bonehead downie gets tossed for sucker punching some random dude and ovechkin gets free reign to do whatever he chooses, if im tochet, I tell downie im fine with what you did, but do it against the right guy, backstrom, ovechkin, carlson... not some scrub
its tough to keep watching the pens year in and out play the same mediocre hockey when we are supposed to have 2 of the best players in the world...they are just so inconsistent, well, when we play good teams we are consistently bad so theres that... |

Downie getting tossed for that was a complete joke. He hit him in the jaw with his glove and he felt it and reacted to it. A second later and he acts like his jaw was removed from his face. He crumpled like paper and bought a call. |

Soderberg and Vermette are the only two centers that are due to be free agents that are good and aren't 50 years old. Both will make more than Sutter.
There are three defensemen that would interest me. Boychuk, Franson and maybe Petry. I think the first two get either Martin money now ($5 million) or somewhere near. Petry could get Ehrhoff money.
I fully expect Zuccarrello to resign with the Rags. I would have interest in three wingers ... Beleskey, Justin Williams and Frolik.
I don't want any part of players north of 35 as free agents. There are very few names that interest me and that are realistic. If I had to render a guess, some of these guys resign with their respective teams. Boychuk to the Isles; Franson in Nashville makes too much sense. - Oneonta Penguin
Those were the 3 D that I would target, although I do expect Boychuk to sign with the Isle. I'd add Glenncross, Bergenheim, Winnik, Santorelli, Stempy even Klinkhammer to the forwards you've mentioned.
Like I said, focus on a 3c and a vet D hopefully dump Sutter and Spaling. They'll have enough cap space to do it.

Perhaps no one retaliates against Ovi because they are afraid of him.
I truly believe NHL players are legitimately intimidated by him. He's prob 250 or so. Skates like the wind. He's a hitter. He aint shy either.
I don't blame him one bit for doing what he does. Until the league or some player/team stops him, he's One BadAss MoFo skating around doing whatever the hell he wants to.
I'd be doing the same thing.....

he sure did, just like joel ward pretending to be hurt from a clean hit from kunitz, the dude has like 40 pounds on kunitz but hey he got the game winner for that award winning injury so i guess it pays to dive/fake it, whatever you want to call it |

So basically do exactly what Shawn Thornton did to Brooks Orpik when every penguin fan went absolutely off their rocker on how insanely cheap and dirty it was? What youre saying is if you are going to cheap shot someone please make sure it is a star player? You stay classy my friend. |

Drifting backwards and off balance....clean hit, but "penalty shall be assessed to any player who commits any action that causes an opponent to be thrown violently into the boards". It wasnt a major penalty but it was a minor boarding call according to the rule. |

all im saying is why waste yourself on a scrub when you could retaliate to the actual player who did the deed...it wasnt a cheap shot either, hillen or hiller or whatever his name is cross checked downie in the face and i think downie was able to block it somewhat and threw a punch and landed it, different than thorton coming up behind orpik slew footing him, then punching him while he was on his way down |

Big difference ... each time we play Washington, the douche takes liberties and one of our pretty significant players gets injured. I have no problem someone running Ovi into the ground based on his MO.

He's also in the heavyweight category and sid would be a middleweight - dbell646
Only reason I brought up opponents wants because of the guy who indicated that Ovechkin never answers for himself. He has, on occasion, against "more seasoned" fighters. |

you literally said ....suckerpunched. You want Steve Downie to sucker punch a top tier player is the exact equivalent of Thornton/Orpik. It blows my mind how fast Penguin fan's change their mind about this stuff. Steve downie was the freaking devil last year now he is jesus on skates. Everyone called for Thornton to be banned from the league and now they are calling for sucker punches to other teams top players. The dirty cheap shot sucker punches hits from behind hits to the head need to stop. |

he wasnt thrown violently into the boards, he was checked against the boards after he put himself in a vulnerable spot and wasn't ready for the hit, gotta be aware out there
so tripping letang causing him to go violently into the boards is ok then? I digress, I know that wasn't a boarding penalty, still warranted a slash or trip.
I know what boarding is ive been a ref for over 10 years... |

How do you retaliate when OV won't back up what he did? The previous game against the Ducks he mad a questionable hit on Getzlaf and when Getzlaf wanted a piece of him he skated off then fell down when Getzlaf touched him. There's a reson he was called out by Getzlaf.

Yes. On Ovi. It's not a penalty either, as the world saw with Staal and Sid. |
