I'm thinking that they won't go for that. Sutter is a more useless, taller, thinner, more turd-like C than Berglund. - Johnny Wrath
Yea, but they already have Goc
Maybe they think Sutter would be a good wing? Or just really value last names? Ahh who am I kidding, itll never happen. |

Maybe we should trade for that Goc guy. He seems really good on PK blocking shots and winning faceoffs, especially in the defensive zone. |

If things continue to go bad, any chance GMJR pulls a Lamoriello and fires the coach then goes behind the bench?

Losses to:Caps-3, Hawks-2, Habs, BOS, PHL, Rags, VAN, NYI, Preds, All good teams, anyone else still confident for the playoffs? - sammy87
Also had a lot of injuries the Pens had to fight through.. Just finally got healthy in the past week. |

But really, I get that the bottom 6 needs to be better. But does anyone remember Crosby or Malkin showing up big in a game like last night? Not in forever. When did playing against every playoff team turn into playing against Zetterberg and Lidstrom circa 2008-09 for Crosby |

They took that playoff atmosphere and really shrunk. Maybe they are only good with bad wingers? |

To play vs the Pens, shut down 87 and 71, get under their skin, play physical. Its a pretty simple game plan. |

Not that hard to shut down Crosby these days. Just take away all his passing options. Let him shoot. You know hes going to force it to a teammate anyway.

Saw a pretty interesting stat that I'm not sure was posted on here before: Sidney Crosby has 58 points in 53 games, but he was held pointless in 23 of them. |

Meh. I think Hornqvist is better than Kuni at setting screens and I think Perron is a better scoring threat than Kunitz in the weeds around the tops of the circles.
What if the PP is run down low like that by Malkin, Sid is the guy in the slot, and Perron plays on the left side? Sid would have to shoot, and into at least a single screen. - Johnny Wrath
no, he wouldnt. hed just pass it back to malkin down low again. |

There were those who were making their lines like this:
Okay, okay. 87 with Perron/Kunitz/Dupuis when he comes back for the playoffs.
Malkin can have whoever. Spaling is fine, moving right along. Then Sid can play with Hornqvist and Kunitz and Perron and win the Scoring Race and a lollipop! - Johnny Wrath
im just all for maximizing value.
i get the point you are making, but just analyzing it like i see it.
realistically i dont think dupuis can be counted on for anything, so he isnt part of the equation.
perron is clicking very well with crosby. hornqvist clicked very, very well with him in the beginning of the season. not as much so with malkin, for whatever reason.
comeau works very well with malkin. kunitz has worked very well with malkin in the past as well. i really think that perron/crosby/hornqvist followed by kunitz/malkin/comeau is the best way to have it. |

Pretty much the game plan for every team that's been successful against them the last several years. |

I don't know why the PK has been so bad lately...they have specialist Adams on it. Last nights game is the most heated I have been after a game in a long time. It just gets to the point, where it boils over. They play next Weds...I don't care if they dress Sill or not, but you tell one of your 4th line "grinders" that every time Ovi is on the ice, you hit him. I will eat the loss, I don't care. You send a message that enough is enough with his actions...he has become a dirty player. If he gets injured, so be it...I don't really care at this point. I am tired of Pens players getting injured and ran because of some ahole being reckless. It is obvious, from the last 2 months, that the Pens are not going to get any calls at all from the refs. I mean at all, I would say it has to be blatant, but after last night....I am not even sure about that anymore. Pens are 1st in most penalty minutes, and 2nd for most times short handed. They are 18th in PP time...so those that keep saying the league and refs protect them...f off. |

I'm not surprised by the penalty stats, not to say the pens are dirty, just that it's fairly easy to provoke them into retaliating, which is almost always called. |

it be (frank)ing super if they called the initial infraction for a change. just saying. |

GMJR is being so candid about his trade strategy, is he just that open or is he somehow playing reverse psychology?
Sutter is so hard to upgrade. There's not many 3rd line C's available. And no one is going to swap centers with us I wouldnt think.

That is my biggest issue....that they won't call a damn thing, then all of a sudden...they will call like 3 against the Pens. I understand you need to play through it and not let it bother you, but when its happening game after game, I don't care who you are...its going to get to you. Then when the game is all but over, they will call a penalty for the Pens..so it makes it look more even. Its a joke anymore |

ill settle just for some league wide consistency with calls.
not that it really matters. the powerplay would just be upsetting to watch anyway haha |

What about bring Letestu back then ship out Sutter for a winger?

Maybe in theory, but who are we giving up for the Testube? And who will give us a good winger for Sutter?
Plus Letestube doesnt score all that much but he'd be a defensive upgrade imo. |

Funny ki n of like what some of us have been saying.. 3rd 4th line goal scorers are needed...if sid and geno get shut down the other 2 lines need to score... you get a top 6 player and you can slide kuni or comeau down to help the other lines |

i understand 87 and 71 are always going to be the primary concern of the other team. and yeah, it would be good to get some secondary scoring.
but, to be fair, there simply just needs to be some nights where 87 and 71 are able to overcome the defensive attention and make enough plays to win the game. i know expecting it every night is unreasonable. but sometimes, it just needs to happen. thats what being a superstar means. |
