So a loss to the Caps brings out....
Philly fans telling Pens fans their team is dirty and to "know history"? Ignoring the last 40 years of Philly hockey..
Islanders fans who realized their team is relevant after 30 years and may reach the 2nd round??
Yikes. - stowerkraut
At least the Islander fans aren't the Seahawk fans...
But I still remember a season ticket holder email/letter for Islander fans about 5 years ago, talking about Tavares, and that they replaced the glass in the arena so its nicer and cleaner.
It was just... wow, you are giving your most loyal fans a negative reason to care in that second part. |

Agreed, it's a joke. If that were some third liner they're not playing for the next 5 games. - Cptmjl
You can bet your ass if Downie did that to Carlson, penalty and suspension. The NHL makes more money from Ovi than they do a 3rd liner. |

So, my guess is we have about 60% of the population in Pittsburgh (and on this board) today compared to yesterday as I am sure many have jumped off a bridge headfirst into the ice.
Solid game up to the Ovi incident. I'm just glad Letang didn't seem to be injured on the play. |

Yes, if it gets these out of the game. Problem is everyone gets off free, maybe a 4 game vacation once in a while. We wouldn't be having these talks if the NHL could do it's job. Those elbows don't happen in the first place if their wasn't a one on Malkin before that as well. - znagle
I'm not sure which elbow you're referring to as there have been...well, let's just say "multiple occasions" I was talking about.
But, back to the topic, I agree. Although I didn't like it, Claude Giroux deserved his suspension in the 2012 playoffs. Shea Weber, as much as I love him, should have been suspended for his Zetterberg head smash. Malkin, Subban, and Ovechkin should have had multiple suspensions by now. Marchand, Lucic, and Neal should be on about their 10th. |

Takes one to know one, right.
Actually, I don't think we're calling them dirty, just that the fanbase has to take a look in the mirror instead of calling up events from 40 years ago.
Also, as the one guy clarified, this current crop of Penguins fans seem (in general, not specifically) to be fairly ignorant of the Penguins' teams prior to 2005 aside from knowing that Mario Lemieux was good at hockey. - jmatchett383
I'll believe it when I'm shown the footage of Hex and Berube being led to the river and reborn anew!

Current crop of Philly fans are ignorant of the style of hockey they got off on playing for years. Call it a wash. |

Still not as good as the "Sindy Crosby" game day flyer you guys got recently. |

Slash, retaliation, Downie craziness, and all of the other great things that happened in this game are over shadowed by Letang's idiotic slash on the PK, I mean honestly how ill timed and foolish was that game deciding slash. That's the slash we should be talking about not Ovi's love tap. |

It was just as stupid as Downie punching Jack Hillen for no apparent reason right in front of the ref. |

Yeah but that was awesome, and Downie is expected to take glorious game altering honorable penalties. |

Thats a lose lose for Ovi, and no negative for Sid. I don't think anyone would expect him to win that fight |

It was. Coach needs to take him to task for that (but won't). It's the same kind of stupidity that's been going on for years.

Still am not sure what the 1970s and 1980s have to do with the current team who, aside from Rinaldo (who was a healthy scratch last night), does not have a "goon" I'm aware of. Even more unsure of what Hextall and Berube's religious affiliations are relevant to.
And no, most ( MOST) Flyers fans are well aware of our past, and they also realize that it will not work in today's NHL and want to embrace a move away from it. |

Pens should've let Dan go with Shero. Caps would've hired Dan and we would've won 7-6 last night. |

Nah he was shipped out the following year we decided we didn't want to whine and write letters to the league and news papers while wasting our time and money trying to rehabilitate Mr. Gillies. Injuring one player was enough we didn't want it to turn into destroying multiple players careers and seasons waiting for him to come around. |

I haven't said anything about the pens, I'm talking about the posters here who want to see someone injured.
