and Neal is gone. Pretty certain if he didn't do the dumb stuff on the ice, he would still be a Penguin. I mean 30-goal scorers like him don't grow on trees. - Oneonta Penguin
Agreed. I was just answering a question. |

What would you like them to do? Suspend Ovechkin for 90 games for a slash that went uncalled? - jmatchett383
Na ... I'd rather have him out of service with a nice slash to the back of the knees. That would send a better message IMO than a suspension.

To be fair and i am just as guilty, most of us do that with our team. Its tough to take a stance against your own team or to be humble after a cheap shot to one of your team's players. - did109
When I see someone take a cheap shot at an Islanders player that results in injury, I'm calling for a penalty or a suspension, not to have the offending player smashed in the face with a stick. It's a big difference. |

And the NHL has done not one thing to stop it. - znagle
And thats where the problem lies. I agree Ovechkin is wreckless. I dont necassarily beleive he is out to injure people, but i do think he is indifferent on the consequences of his actions. He is so focused on making something happen that he goes full on black out and does whatever is needed right or wrong. |

Better idea is to start a massive brawl and call up a minor league goon to fight a goalie.
Hate it when the Flyers do that kinda goon stuff. |

He's a repeat offender. Repeat after repeat after excuse. He should be around the 10 game mark by now at least. But we're talking about the garage league here. |

If he was wearing a flat brim hat I WOULD have stabbed him. - nbartley9 You should have regardless. Then after show him the video of the Phil taking a penalty shot and going in with the puck like he was playing ringette

I cant argue with you there. The angry mob mentality does take over but id be lying if i didnt have some awful thoughts against kasparitis when he absolutely cold cocked Lindros with a clean hit or Scott Stevens for that matter.....For gods sake Eric skate with your head up!! |

Honestly, if someone of the Penguins had 2-handed Rinaldo in the knee after the Letang hit, I'd understand 100%. |

Agreed, and the nhl has been pitiful at suspending stars, which doesn't help. Still doesn't excuse the reaction I keep seeing here every few games. |

Does the same apply to Malkin and his uncalled elbows/slew foots (he is a MASTER of the latter)? Should he be getting ~10 games by now? Not to mention, an automatic 1-game suspension was waived because of his name already in his career. |

When you leave your feet constantly, run people as hard as possible while they're vulnerable you are going for the highlight hit. When that is mostly what you care about, I would say their is a part of him that makes him "out to injure" in a way. |

So a loss to the Caps brings out....
Philly fans telling Pens fans their team is dirty and to "know history"? Ignoring the last 40 years of Philly hockey..
Islanders fans who realized their team is relevant after 30 years and may reach the 2nd round??
Yikes.

Takes one to know one, right.
Actually, I don't think we're calling them dirty, just that the fanbase has to take a look in the mirror instead of calling up events from 40 years ago.
Also, as the one guy clarified, this current crop of Penguins fans seem (in general, not specifically) to be fairly ignorant of the Penguins' teams prior to 2005 aside from knowing that Mario Lemieux was good at hockey. |

The stars get more of a free pass. More leniency. Ovi is a star, he just has to jusitfy his actions with "I was going for a shot" and he's off clean. |

Yeah, that's why we are here but hey at least we have a chance of making it to the second round let alone making the playoffs but by all means flame away! |

Yes, if it gets these out of the game. Problem is everyone gets off free, maybe a 4 game vacation once in a while. We wouldn't be having these talks if the NHL could do it's job. Those elbows don't happen in the first place if their wasn't a one on Malkin before that as well. |

Don't be flattered, it's not about the Penguins. If some mouth-breather fan of any team was spouting off advocating for the brutal assault of someone with hockey stick I assume it would garner some attention from people outside of your usual posters.
You'll notice I used "fan", singular, before I get accused of generalizing. |

Yes, point is he should have been suspended multiple other times and hasn't, same situation as most players. |
